Sheepdog Marksmanship Training

Great day trip to Longview and the East Texas R***e & Pistol Club for the Lone Star State Steel Championship. Pretty happy with my RFPO performance, but not so much on LO. Thanks to the MD (good to shoot with you) and all the match staff for another awesome event.

It’s funny (not) when you walk past your range cart sitting in the house after you get home from a match and wonder “Why does it smell like grip enhancer in here?” The empty bottle, that was nearly full earlier in the day, was an easy giveaway. I guess I’ll be cleaning magazines this evening.

Thought I’d get ahead of the game and just start sorting beforehand.

I picked up the DAA Auto Case Sorter and hooked it up to my Dillon 650. .380 brass mixed in becomes a real pain when I’m loading on the RL1100. The case sorter works very well (so far) at rejecting anything other than 9mm (.380, 38 super, etc). I then do a second run in the tumbler to clean primer pockets and give a good shine. The prep work makes actual loading so much easier.

Progress continues with the RL 1100. It’s just enjoyable to load with this!

Good morning Monday. Enjoy the holiday. Got some private training today and it looks to be a great day!

For all the naysayers…hitting A/C steel at 90 & 100 yards isn’t that hard! This was the second time this young guy was out for training. Proper application of the fundamentals and some basic understanding of ballistics is all it takes…and some coaching from a good instructor.

We’ve had Al for about 6 weeks. If you know someone that would be interested in adopting him, please pass along.

Talk about a throwback! My sister sent this picture of me from when I was 4 years old. I pretty much have had a fascination with fi****ms since I was born. Funny to see I’ve really never changed! Finger is off the trigger too.
