Short story time behind this win at Cincinnati Grappling Industries!!⬇️⬇️⬇️

Leonidas lost to this great competitor in Gi, and not by a little, by 14 points, he got stuck in his guard for most of the match, we had to change our game plan!

No Gi time is up & Leonidas is locked in & ready to revive himself, unfortunately the kid didn’t have shorts, they found some but they had pockets, they went running again the 2nd time and the ref said it was going to be a walk over. We did NOT want that. Would that have been an easy win for Leonidas? Yes. Absolutely! But what lesson would he have learned ?

We went searching for big brother & got his shorts, I found the stressed out parents & was like let’s go ! Both kids were happy to get to compete! We’re grateful for the great sportsmanship, the challenge, & making Leonidas stronger ! This is what competing is about. We don’t want no easy wins. Leonidas earned this win with respect & hard work which ending up with him getting Gold 🥇 for no Gi!🔥💪🏼

🔥 TEAM Functions Of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu SHOWED UP & SHOWED OUT TODAY AT GRAPPLING INDUSTRIES CINCINNATI!!🔥

What a day of jiu-jitsu! Every single athlete was amazing. 💪🥋 They were dialed in, focused, and fighting for each other from start to finish.

The support, encouragement, and teamwork today were incredible to watch. Win or lose, they had each other’s backs and truly showed what being a TEAM is all about. ❤️

We also brought home 🥈for over all team !
What an achievement!

At just 9 years old, Giovanni Pierson has already accomplished something incredible — he is ranked TOP 20 IN THE WORLD in Grappling Industries’ Under-18 rankings. 🌎🔥

But Giovanni’s journey is about so much more than rankings, medals, and victories.

It’s about the early mornings. The long practices. The tough losses. The moments when he was scared, frustrated, or unsure of himself and chose to keep going anyway.

One moment I will never forget was during a championship round after 11 matches. Giovanni had lost once and needed just ONE more win to take gold. He was defeated, scared, and unsure of himself.

I looked at him and said:

“You want it? It’s yours. It’s right there. Give me three more minutes. Give me everything you have and believe in yourself.”

He walked back onto that mat and gave everything he had.

When they raised his hand, I saw more than a champion.

I saw my son discovering what he is capable of. ❤️

Jiu-jitsu has taught Giovanni discipline, confidence, respect, perseverance, and most importantly NEVER to quit when things get hard.

He trains relentlessly, loves competing, learns from every match, and continues to push himself to become better every single day.

Now, we have an opportunity to help recognize everything this young athlete has worked for.

Forever grateful on days like these when we got each other to train with, each other to grow with, each other to try hard new things. It’s me & my brother against the world and we’re coming for Cincinnati next weekend, be ready 💪🏼

Giovanni second match in Detroit. Finished with north south choke! Yes, we understand his competition was on the smaller side, it allowed him to work his technique, and he still gains experience & knowledge from every match. This girl probably just got moved up or was pushing herself in a higher bracket. Either way she showed up and she fought ! That’s what it’s about ! We appreciate every match and respect every single competitor, up next my very first NAGA @ MYRTLE BEACH💪🏼

Leonidasss with his first match of the morning, we almost thought he wasn’t going to have this match but the kid came back ready to go! Such a great, fun match. We love getting new competitors! Leonidas got the win with a rear naked choke 💪🏼
