On August 19, 1946, 80 years ago today, the New Orleans Beekmans played the franchise’s first AAABA game in Washington, D.C., marking New Orleans’ first appearance in the AAABA National Tournament.

The rest, as they say, is history.

The Boosters’ tradition is strong, thanks to the people who support the franchise on and off the field. Thanks to the Johnstown Oldtimers, the AAABA National Board, the City of Johnstown, and our alumni, families, and fans who have helped the tradition grow over eight decades.

The 2026 Boosters’ roster featured four players whose dads played on previous Booster teams:
- Connor Micheu (Buddy, 1986-87)
- Riley Rowell (Steven, 1998-99)
- Trey Turnage (Buddy, 1997-98)
- Coby Mitchell (Danny, 1996)

- Other ties included Maes Martin, grandson of Howard Maestri (1965-66), nephew of Bryan Hughes (1995) and cousin of Jack Cressend (1994)
- Jacob Heiden, nephew of Rick Farizo (1969) and cousin of Braden (2023-24).
- Brothers Jude and Blaise Tingstrom made their first tournament appearance on the same roster.

Congratulations to New Orleans’ Trey Turnage, who took home the Tournament’s Pitching Award. In two appearances, Trey pitched 9 innings, allowed 0 runs, 2 hits, and only 3 walks in 30 batters faced while compiling a 2-0 win-loss record. Micah Wascom tied the tournament strikeout total with 13, tied with Johnstown’s Chase Williamson.
