⚾️ 16U Blue rolls to a 12-2 win over L&M!

A complete team effort from start to finish as the Makos combined strong pitching, disciplined at-bats, and aggressive baserunning to secure the victory.

🔥 Offensive Highlights
• D. Slack: 2-for-3, 2 doubles, 3 runs scored
• J. Sydney: 1-for-3, 2 RBI, 2 runs scored, stolen base
• J. Renaud: double, 2 RBI, run scored, 2 stolen bases
• C. Slack: 2 RBI
• A. Labell: reached base 3 times and scored 2 runs
• J. Spence: RBI, run scored, stolen base

💪 Pitching Highlights
• J. Renaud: 2 innings, 5 strikeouts, 0 earned runs
• Makos pitchers combined for 8 strikeouts while allowing just 5 hits and 0 earned runs.

The offense worked 10 walks, collected 7 hits, and consistently put pressure on the bases all game long.

Great team win and another strong performance from 16U Blue! Keep working, boys. ⚾️💙

A great honor and well-deserved recognition for the hard work these players have put in on and off the field. We’re proud to be a small part of their development and excited to see them represent their schools, communities, and the Makos program.

Weekend Highlights for 16U Blue:

J. Spence turned in a complete-game performance, allowing just 4 hits while striking out 7.

A. Labell led the offense with 5 hits and 3 RBI over the weekend.

D. Slack collected 4 hits and 2 RBI across three games.

J. Sydney recorded hits in all three games and added an extra-base hit.

G. Spaner delivered multiple doubles and was a key contributor offensively.

As a team, the boys collected 20 hits, drew 19 walks, and continued to compete against strong competition throughout the weekend.

Back to work this week. Keep improving. Keep competing.

Congratulations to all of our Makos athletes on their high school spring seasons!

A special congratulations to Bishop Hendricken on capturing the state championship, and a huge shoutout to East Providence for an incredible season and a hard-fought run to the title game. The talent, toughness, and commitment displayed across Rhode Island baseball this spring was outstanding.

Now it’s time for the next chapter.

With the high school season in the books, we’re excited to get back on the field together and begin our summer Makos season. The work continues, the competition ramps up, and new opportunities await. We can’t wait to see this group represent the Makos program throughout the summer.

Back in the lab this morning. ⚾️

Tyler Boiani (’28) continues to put in the work as he prepares for the upcoming summer season with the Ocean State Makos.

The Bishop Hendricken left-hander has had a productive offseason, adding strength, refining his mechanics, and focusing on the small details that help pitchers develop over time. Today’s video is just one snapshot of the work happening behind the scenes.

Development isn’t built in a day. It’s built through consistent effort, quality reps, and a commitment to getting better.

We’re excited to watch Tyler continue to grow and compete this summer.

We’re currently gauging interest for potential Ocean State Makos Pitching Development Programs for the summer months and eventually into the fall.

Programs will be led by former Rhode Island College and NECBL pitcher, 7x GDSL Pitcher of the Year, longtime pitching instructor, and current Makos staff member CJ Tsoumakas.

Potential program focus may include:
• Arm care & throwing routines
• Mechanical development
• Bullpen work
• Athlete progression & long-term development
• Recovery habits
• Velocity & pitch movement concepts
• Competitive mindset

Potential groups may include:
• Youth / Middle School
• 13U–14U
• High School

Final groups, scheduling, and overall structure will be based on overall interest and participation numbers.

Shawn Morin (‘29 | Coventry HS) recently stepped up in a JV matchup against La Salle Academy and made the most of the opportunity, recording two strikeouts in relief.

Love seeing our guys compete with confidence at the high school level and continue building momentum.
