Control your breath, control your life. From alleviating chronic tension, to fixing asymmetries all the way to managing stress and anxiety. The breath is at the center of it all. It’s how we manage our nervous system regulation and I truly believe it’s of the utmost importance. Re-learning how to breathe may seem silly but many of us have very dysfunctional strategies in an overstimulating society, so add conscious breath-work to your resolution list & never look back.

Al has been working with me for a bit & our recent training focus has been correcting pelvic position and getting her "unstuck" from her over-extended position at her lower back. This is a common PRI concept known as PEC (posterior extensor chain) where the muscles of the back are chronically "on" compressing the lumbar vertebrae, the sacrum and pushing the pelvis forward. We had to take a step back, do some table work to subside symptoms and tone down chronically concentric tissues, focus on isolated drills to gain positional awareness and use breathing drills to facilitate her nervous system learning a new normal.

Once we got initial steps down, we started re-integrating traditional strength exercises with this focus. This concept is a focus of virtually any exercise we do at this point. Now Al is at a point where she is holding herself in good positions while we train and has gained newfound awareness to correct herself when she is slipping into old postural/movement strategies that aren't in her best interest.

Show some love to Al! A great friend that I'm happy to be able to work with. Every session with her is both rewarding and equally entertaining...always a good time!

Schedule is full and not taking in regular training clients at the moment, but contact to be added to the wait list to be a priority when a spot opens up. I have openings for one-off massage treatments and those looking for programs to do on their own (usually 1-2 meetings to cover).

I had a random thought about the concept of stretching and how I think most people stretch incorrectly. Sorry if I was rambling a bit, but this is something important to think about if you chronically stretch the same things. Tension may not always be "tightness" it could be weakness, it could be poor joint function, it could be postural demand, amongst other things. Hope I conveyed the message in an easy to understand way, because the concept isn't so simple.

Check the video and let me know if you have any questions!

Aubrey & Dave came to me looking to shed some unwanted added weight associated with quarantine, like many of us struggled with. They are getting married next week!! So, the goal was to get in better shape for the wedding. I worked with them on workouts and with nutritional coaching by having them track their food intakes. This approach doesn't work for all, and is not necessary, but it will work and is the best way for me to give direct feedback. I was lenient with them last year through the holidays, but I told them as the new year started, it was time to get serious. And they didn't mess around!

They lost over 10 & 20 lbs, respectively during this time. Greatly improved body composition, added muscle and greatly reduced body fat. We did pinch tests every couple of months to check in. This wasn't done in an overly restrictive way, they were still able to go away and enjoy themselves in moderation, have fun on the weekends, and learn how to change their eating habits in a sustainable manner to ensure long term success.

My job is a cool way to connect with people. I offer my skillset and expertise...and in return, get to spend a lot of time with clients who often become friends. This was the case here for sure. I've known Dave for quite some time, but didn't meet Aubrey until she walked in the doors here. I'm truly grateful to call these two friends. Just amazing people, man. We have a blast every week. They come in and work hard, but we're always sharing stories and dying laughing...my kind of humans.

Show some love to Aubrey & Dave! They worked hard for this and hope they know I'm just as proud of them as they should be of themselves. Can't wait for the wedding!!

Wall slides have a lot of variety in terms of the nuances to bias for specific desired outcome goals. I use wall slides often in different situations where applicable because most people with shoulder joint stiffness or pain have dysfunctional positioning or movement at the scaps. Think of our scaps as the guide that leads our shoulder where we want it to go.

All wall slides are different, but in the video I cover key aspects of positioning and set-up to ensure success regardless of which variation you're using. What dictates which one I select is based on posture/joint positioning/movement deficiencies.

Check the video and feel free to ask questions on which type of wall slide could help you!
