Top Outfitters Army Surplus & More

Top Outfitters Army Surplus & More Top Outfitters Army Surplus and More started doing business in 1995. Our first location was a 1000 sq. ft. building near our current location on Rte 37. of space.

Top Outfitters Army Surplus & More is an Army Surplus store that specializes in genuine military surplus, paintball, airsoft, outdoor, hunting gear, knives and collectibles. Initially our store only offered genuine military surplus. Soon after opening we expanded our inventory to include Carhartt bib overalls. As our business grew we later added paintball guns and supplies, becoming the first store in Southern Illinois to offer the next generation of paintball equipment. By 1998 we had outgrown the building we were in and moved into a building next door with over 2500 sq. In our new location we expanded our inventory to include camouflage netting, canvas tarps, quality knives, flags, hat pins, duty gear, military patches, and insignia and also started carrying new military clothing as well as surplus. In the past five years the quantity of military surplus has declined, but we remain committed to offering our customers a great selection of new and used merchandise. Another commitment we have made to our customers includes choosing quality American made products instead of cheap foreign imports. Here is a list of some of our U.S.A. made products

Flags by CVS Systems in Indiana
Artex Sock Hats & Knitted Caps
Atwood Rope made in Ohio
Avenger Blow Guns
Canvas Tarps made by Chicago Dropcloth Co. in Illinois
Raine Duty Gear made in Indiana
Federal Holsters and Gun Cases made in Illinois
R.P.S. Paintballs
Carhartt Work Wear
S.T.R.I.P.E.S. T-Shirts and Thermals By Mohnton Mills, PA
Tippmann Paintball Markers - Fort Wayne, IN
Ball caps by Hoover’s mfg. While it is no longer possible for our business to offer only American made products, we feel it is our duty to support companies that keep manufacturing jobs in America. After fifteen years, we can thank all of our great customers for our success. Stop in sometime and check us out.

We have had a PO Box for safety reasons, since forever. I now have to drive to Marion to get my mail. The Johnston City Post Office is closed indefinitely, maybe permanently. I'm not sure if anyone has noticed, but the US mail service has been in decline for years now. I sometimes don't get bills until after they are due. I've had packages take a month or more to reach customers. UPS is the only service that I trust. I recently was hacked, and thankfully the bank offered to send my envelope with my new credit card through UPS, which arrived on time.

Yes, capitalism has again shown that it is more reliable and trustworthy than relying on government services.

I think I've finally conquered the landline telephone gremlins. For those of you who have had trouble reaching me by phone, here's why. I finally ported my old number to a new device, which took two weeks. It's been down twice in the last week. I was on hold for 30 minutes the last time and had to contact the fraud department. They shut me off for non-payment, for a bill they never sent me. I signed a contract for $20 per month and a $2 equipment charge. I had to pay $178.95 to turn my device back on. (It's a cellular box you plug your landline phone into) I literally checked my online account the day they turned me off, and the balance owed was $0. I now have to call back and try to get them to give me a credit and honor the original contract. On the plus side, my old phone number is back up and working.

Due to copper thieves and our crumbling infrastructure, my store phone number is down. The phone company paid me a visit and informed me that it would not be fixed because I am the last one on the line. I have signed up with a new service, but it may take a while to import my old number. You can message me here on FB or email me at [email protected]. My temporary number is (618) 944-1510

We are still open with our regular hours, Tues - Sat 9 to 5.

I recently scored some older Woodland (M81) surplus. I also have some Alice Packs and a couple of ACU assault packs. I'm getting low, but I still have some fresh MREs if you plan on hiking or tent camping this summer. We are still on Rte 37, 3.5 miles North of Marion, open 9 to 5 Tuesday through Saturday.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, Jan. 27th is going to be a rare snow day for Top Outfitters. My side road just got plowed at 8pm. My lot is plowed so if you need something, or just want to get out of the house, we will be back to normal hours by Wednesday this week at 9am.

Here's a retro pic of the kiddos...
