McHenry Sportsmen's Club Trapshooting at its finest. 5 fields. We're open on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday (Last round goes out at 3:15 PM). No steel shot allowed. (FOID required.)

Established in 1948, the McHenry Sportsmen’s Club is the place for new or experienced shooters to enjoy trapshooting. We are open year round (weather permitting) on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 11:00am until 4:00pm. The club maintains 5 regulation Trap fields equipped with state-of-the-art fully automated trap machines (target throwers) featuring voice release. Our members are happy to

share their tips and experience with new shooters. We are a non-profit club, run by Volunteer Members who enjoy the sport of Trapshooting. We host many other organizations for private and corporate events at trap shooting facility and wooded grounds. Our Club requires lead shot, no shot larger than 7.5. Please see our Safety Rules for more information. A limited supply of ammunition is available for purchase at the Clubhouse. We are open to the public most days (Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday). We may close occasionally for Club member only events.

A lot has gone on since the flood waters have receded. We've been sprucing up the facilities by painting the yardage markers. All five traps are back in operation. Most the picnic tables have been replaced with new frames, tops with medallions, and benches. The scoring benches have new steps, seats, and backs.

The club has hosted ATA Big 50s and a huge TrapLife 24/7 Challenge weekend. We are still running the Jackpot League. The weather is expected to be good this weekend, so come on out!

Due to Flooding, the McHenry Sportsmen’s Club will be closed until further notice.

New Roof on Trap 2

The roof on Trap House was replaced on March 23, 2026, it was in disrepair and leaked. The MSC board approved the replacement in the January board meeting. Tom G. designed the new roof, and it was replaced by a team of volunteers. A special thank you goes out to the following:
