As an instructor, there is nothing that makes me happier than to know someone who practices yoga at home - whether it’s following along with a YouTube video, a book, or even a live zoom yoga class.
With that said, there are also too many cases I have seen of people who have been practicing for a long time, but never in a studio or in-person class, for years on their own only to see that they have physical conditions which not only saw no improvement after a long practice but in some cases even worsened after practicing incorrectly. But they knew and read that yoga is good for them so did it blindly without making sure if what they were practicing was in fact the correct way to do it.
So if that is the case with you, I would urge you to go in person for a group class or private lesson, talk to your instructor about any physical aches/pains you are having, health issues or goals you have mind and they can help guide you in the right direction. And most importantly, they can make sure you are practicing poses, breathing exercises correctly so you can actually reach your intended goals and avoid any injuries along the way.
If you are interested in joining, I teach beginner friendly, as well as intermediate and advanced group classes and private lessons in-studio and online via Zoom. DM me with any questions or simply click the link in bio to see schedule and sign up!
