Jerome Sporting Clays

Jerome Sporting Clays Shooting Sporting Clays-15 stations representing realistic bird/rabbit actions. At present most people think this sport is "Trap" or "S***t".

We are wanting to reach people that have never heard of sporting clays and educate them on what shooting sporting clays is all about. This is not the case. Sporting Clays is quite different. There are typically 10 stations on a course with 10 shots at each station. Clay Birds representing; Pheasants, Teal, Ducks, Rabbits, etc. are called for and shot at each station. It takes about 2-3 hours to s

hoot 100 Clays. Take a stroll with a Gun Cart, Drive a Golf Cart or ATV to each station. Throughout the year The Sporting Clay Division assists Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever and various other fund raisers that help these organizations and promote Memberships. The cost to shoot 100 clays is $25.00/Members and 30.00/Non-Members - Membership Fees are: $25.00 Individual and $35.00 Family - Renewed Annually. The Sporting Clay Division is open every first Saturday and third Sunday of the Month weather permitting. Additional dates of operations are posted on our web-site: Jeromegunclub.com

Rifle and Pistol Range Update:

Last Tuesday we placed 5 refurbished steel targets on the 200-yard range, 4 on the 25/50-yard range and 5 on the 100-yard range. We also removed the old ones for refurbishing if possible. In addition, we placed 3 new target stands in the 50-yard range. Then it got hot. Shooters were very polite waiting for us and the opportunity to be the first to hit a new steel target. Thank You.

Please be aware of the potential fire hazard this year via your activities. We do not want a fire started by one of us or one coming onto the property. It would impact our ability to recreate.

We also want to reiterate that we do not want anyone to place targets closer than the established distances at each range. If you want to shoot 50 yards, only do it on that range. The backstop will be different and so will the neighbor’s safety, working their fields.

We are progressing on the new 200-yard range, and it will be open soon, once benches and target stands are in place.

We also have more target stands to replace ones no longer functional. We will get to them soon also.

Rifle and Pistol Range Update:

Next Tuesday, July 21 we will be replacing shot up steel targets with ones that have been refurbished. We have about 15 to do. Time permitting, we will also replace some paper target stands that are no longer functional from being shot up. A few members have asked if they can volunteer in our activities. This is a good one for 2-3 people. We will be putting the 12” post hole auger on the tractor about 10 a.m. which requires a little wrestling, but not bad. The tractor does most of the work. Pulling the old steel target stands and drilling holes for the replacements (concreted in 5-gallon buckets). The tractor also does most of the work by removing the old paper target stands and replacing them.

As we have learned, this work is completed quickly with the tractor but will require ranges to be shut down while the work is being completed.

Thanks for your understanding.
