Dedicated Teamwork...

Tomas Gonzalaz is a suspect in an assault investigation that was initially handled by the Laclede County Sheriff's Office (LCSO). During the preliminary investigation, LCSO determined that the residence where the assault occurred was located within Pulaski County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) jurisdiction, although the driveway entrance to the property is located in Laclede County. LCSO subsequently requested assistance from the PCSO Detective Bureau.

At the outset of the investigation, detectives only had Mr. Gonzalaz's name and information obtained by LCSO indicating he was a former member of the United States Navy. Detectives contacted the Military Investigation Division, which provided identifying information that allowed investigators to further develop the case. As a result of the investigation, probable cause was established, and a felony arrest warrant was obtained.

Information regarding the warrant was disseminated to the Lebanon Police Department (LPD), Laclede County Sheriff's Office, and members of the Operation Relentless Pursuit (ORP) Task Force.

On June 22, 2026, Mr. Gonzalaz was taken into custody by members of the Operation Relentless Pursuit Task Force and booked into the Laclede County Detention Center on the outstanding warrant.

This arrest is the direct result of outstanding cooperation, communication, and teamwork among multiple agencies. The Pulaski County Sheriff's Office extends its appreciation to the Laclede County Sheriff's Office, Lebanon Police Department, Military Investigation Division, and our Operation Relentless Pursuit Task Force partners for their assistance and commitment to public safety.

This investigation remains active, and additional investigative efforts are ongoing.

All persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

Recently, five members of the Henry County Sheriff's Office administration and investigations division attended an intensive 80-hour homicide and death investigation course to further their individual development and strengthen our agency's investigative capabilities.

Over the course of 10 days in Kentucky, participants worked alongside court-certified experts and received advanced training in crime scene response and reconstruction, DNA and forensic evidence collection, bloodstain pattern analysis, statement analysis and interviewing techniques, court preparation and testimony, criminal profiling and behavioral analysis, cold case and missing person investigations, equivocal deaths, su***de investigations, forensic pathology, clandestine graves, and other advanced investigative techniques.

Unfortunately, these types of investigations are not just topics found in training manuals. As recent events have reminded us, law enforcement agencies must be prepared to investigate the most serious and complex cases when they occur.

Whether it's a suspicious death, a missing person, a homicide investigation, or assisting another agency, our goal is simple: continue investing in our people so they have the tools, knowledge, and confidence to conduct thorough, professional investigations on behalf of the citizens we serve.
