Last Monday, I had one of the most stressful days of my entire year. I had some major conflict situations going on with the employees of one of my businesses, along with three other seriously stressful situations that were unrelated. I didn't know if I was going to make it to bedtime without having a complete mental breakdown.
I was so busy that day, that I would not have finished everything even if I had stayed up all night long. But at 5 that evening, I decided to go and get a good cardio workout at the studio. I knew I didn't have time to go to the session, but I was so stressed out I was just ready to step off of the roller coaster for a moment so I can get my thoughts together. It's the best thing I could have done.
The workout session was therapeutic. It was an outlet for my stress, and after I was done, my mind felt completely clear. Just stepping away for that short. Of time and focusing on Fitness allowed me to have a total reset. I needed it so bad.
I did survive that terribly stressful day, and it was the workout session that gave me the break I needed so I could really step back and reflect on what I should do about all of the ceazy situations. Everything did evenually work out.
The crazy thing is, I almost changed my mind and did not go to the studio to work out. I can't imagine how much worse my evening would have been had I not taking that break to take care of my body.
Sometimes we get so busy we think that keeping care of our bodies and our minds is something that is just not worth squeezing into the schedule. But that's the last thing that we should ever do.
Don't negotiate away your physical fitness because you are too stressed or busy. Those are the times that you need it the most.
