This past weekend wrapped up the final event of the 2024-2025 season. The anglers took on Dale Hollow lake and we were blessed enough to pull off the win on the college side and pulled out the win in the main event as well. The team had a 10 fish two day total of 197.50” beating the second place school which had 186.75”.

This also was the last event for two seniors, and . I want to thank both of them for believing in this program and thank them for how they both helped shape the program into what it is now. They will both be deeply missed when traveling this fall but we are thankful for the time we got to spend with them. They both have bright futures ahead of them, not only with fishing, but they are both incredible young men who will do great things!

The kayak Anglers just wrapped up the third annual battle at the Hollow and the trophy is staying in Jefferson City for another year! Super proud of the how the team worked and fished this week. The team was lead by finishing first in the event with 96” and won big fish with a 19.75”, close behind in second was with 94”, and rounding out the top 3 with his best 5 fish limit was with and impressive 91”. Our best 5 as a team went 98.25” of beautiful Dale Hollow bass! We have a couple weeks off and then it’s back to Dale Hollow for the last Bassmaster event of the spring.

A week ago one of our very own anglers made the decision to publicly declare his faith and get baptized! I am so incredibly proud of Evan on making this decision to get baptized and it is even more special when his dad got to help baptize him.

Fishing is an incredible sport but this is greater than any tournament finish or any fish anyone could ever catch, to accept Jesus into their life and gain everlasting life! Join me in congratulating Evan on making the best decision of his life. Now go be a fisher of men!

The Kayak Anglers made the trip down to Lake Chickamagua for the weekend and competed in two different tournaments. lead the way for the Eagles finishing sixth in both the Tennessee B.A.S.S. nation and the TVKA event, as well as cashing a check in both events. Right behind Ewing was coming in 8th in the TVKA and cutting the last check spot and finishing 12th in the B.A.S.S. Nation event. Super proud of this group for working hard all week and fishing til the last minute on a stingy Lake Chickamagua! Got a few weeks of down time then it’s back on the road to Dale Hollow for the last two tournaments of the spring!

The first ever kayak event is in the books! lead the Eagles with a second place finish with close behind in 4th place and rounding out the top 5. The Eagles also put up 193.50” in their top 10 fish over the weekend to host the overall team win by 17”! Berryhill also caught a 25” to win himself $500 and big fish in the main event of 224 anglers, as well as the college side. Great week for the Eagles in Florida, next stop Lake Chickamagua!

This group is something special! The kayak anglers took a clean sweep of the top three in the college open on lake Chickamauga! Super proud of this group of anglers and how they all kept their heads down and went to work! The kayak anglers was lead by the team of .lovejoy.fishing and who took the lead early on day one and never looked back! The second place team consisted of and , Evan also won big bass of the event with a 23” 8.75lbs chickamagua giant! The third place team was and who had a big rally day! Excited to keep the season rolling in just over a month on Dale Hollow!

Our very own has been on a role recently! He just secured his second win within a month and these two events brought him a total of over $16,000! Freshman move In is coming up in less than two weeks and we’re ready to get this season started!

Join us in welcoming to the Carson-Newman family! Jacob is a fantastic angler from just up the road in Mooresburg, Tn. He is going to be a huge asset to the team and we are so excited to see what the future has in store for Jacob as he grows as an angler but more importantly as a Christian!

Four of our anglers fished the Tennessee Bass Nation event on Watts Bar Lake today in rain. led the Eagles by finishing 5th, cashing a check, and by qualifying for the state champion! missed qualifying by .25” but had a strong start to Aoy finishing in 11th. had a good limit and finished in 20th and had a good event finishing in 24th with one shy of a limit. Super proud of this team and their hard work, even in bigger tournaments like this one!

The Kayak anglers represented great in Florida! led the anglers with a 2nd place finish in the college event and even in the event! came in 4th in the college event and cut a nice check finishing in 13th in the bos event as well. finished in 6th with coming in 7th in his first kayak tournament ever! While we may not have won the battle we did win the war by getting the most points out of all schools present. Great start to team of the year!

That’s a wrap for practice on the Harris Chain for the first event of the 2024 season. Practice hasn’t been the best but everyone is very optimistic for tomorrow. Let’s get the 2024 season started on the right foot! 🦅
