“When we talk about athletic performance, especially in regards to golf, everyone wants more power when striking the ball. One technique with your swing that you can implement to get more power, without increasing your strength and speed, is creating lag in the downswing. This “lag” will create a whipping effect that transfers force from your rotating body through the shaft of the club to the club head. This results in a more consistent ball striking position, club head speed, ball flight, and distance control .If we look at this 7 iron shot a little closer, you can see that my body is rotating into a position to where my hands are at the point of contact before the club. Here is a great frontal view of Tiger Woods creating lag on his downswing on a similar iron shot.”⠀
