Update on the Rink!

I know we all would love to have the rink ready to skate, but have run into a few snags along the way.

The first one was when the liner that was ordered was damaged on delivery so a replacement needed to be sent.

We have had issues getting water to the rink. The first delivery from AuSable Forks Fire Department wasn't nearly enough (we need 40,000 gallons to fill the rink) and needed to coordinate another delivery.

The AFFD came back on Tuesday and worked for several hours to pump water into the rink. The Jay Fire Department was also asked to participate and declined due to lack of volunteers. If you live in the Jay district and are interested, give them a call. 🙂In turn, one of our contributors gave a sizable donation to the Au Sable Forks Fire Department for their willingness to give back to the community.

In the time between water deliveries, an upstanding citizen felt it necessary to ride their ATV on the liner tearing holes in it. We are trying to build something special for the community, if you feel that we need to include something for ATVs/dirtbikes or cross-country skiing we'd love to collaborate with you! Please don't ride on the rink!

Our volunteers are still at work putting water on the rink and hopefully it will be skate-ready soon.

As the hockey/skating season is coming to a close while the weather warms up, it’s time for some important updates!

1) We have started a Go Fund Me page with a goal of $200K and plan on moving from the Au Sable Acres to the Grove Road in Au Sable Forks, NY!
While this goal is realistic and achievable, we can’t do it without your continued support, so be sure to spread the word! See link to our Go Fund Me page below

Ice Update:

As most of you probably know, we recently had sub-zero temperatures for a couple days. When it gets that cold, ice expands, which in turn causes it to crack. That being said, there are cracks in the rink that the blades of skates can easily fit into, making skating conditions not ideal.

If you choose to skate on it still, be careful and keep an eye out for cracks in the ice. Also, there’s a snow storm coming in tonight, so stay safe and stay warm!

This ice is rough in a couple spots, but still a blast to skate on nonetheless!
