☀️ Today’s Scripture

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
~Gospel of Matthew 6:33

Brief Word:

Before you chase what you need, check what you’re seeking first.

Jesus said these words while talking about things people genuinely worry about what they’ll eat, what they’ll wear, and how their needs will be met.

His answer wasn’t, “Those things don’t matter.”

His answer was about order.

Seek God first.

That word first matters.

Because sometimes God isn’t absent from our lives He’s simply been moved down the list.

We wake up thinking about money.

The business.

The next opportunity.

The unfinished project.

The relationship.

The bills.

The future.

And then somewhere in the middle of carrying all of that, we try to fit God in.

Jesus teaches the opposite:

Start with Me.

Before you make the decision seek Him.

Before you respond emotionally seek Him.

Before you chase another opportunity seek Him.

Before you allow financial pressure to determine your direction seek Him.

Before you ask, “How can I make this work?” ask, “Lord, what do You want me to do?”

Seeking God first doesn’t mean ignoring your responsibilities. It means allowing Him to establish their order.

Because everything that looks like an opportunity isn’t necessarily your assignment.

Everything that can make money isn’t necessarily where you should spend your life.

Everything demanding your attention doesn’t deserve your attention.

Today, don’t begin by asking God to fit into everything you already decided to do.

Begin with:

“Lord, You’re first. Now show me what comes second.”

🙏🏾 Prayer

Father, thank You for another day. Before I chase anything today, I choose to seek You first. Put my priorities in the right order. Don’t allow money, ambition, fear, relationships, opportunities, or responsibilities to become greater in my heart than You. Give me wisdom to recognize what deserves my attention and what is simply a distraction. I trust You with what I need, what I’m building, and what I cannot control. Lead me in my decisions today. Close doors I should not walk through, give me courage to walk through the ones You open, and teach me to desire Your will more than my own. I want my life to be built around You, not simply have You added to it. In Jesus’ name, amen.

🔑 Key Thought

Don’t ask God to fit into your priorities. Put God first and let Him put everything else in order. 🙏🏾

Today’s Scripture

“Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
~Psalms 90:12

Brief Word

You have time but you don’t have time to waste.

Psalm 90 doesn’t tell us to fear that our days are limited. It tells us to become wise because they are.

There’s a difference.

You can spend years being busy without actually moving toward what matters.

Starting things and never finishing them.

Putting off important conversations.

Knowing what needs to change but saying, “I’ll deal with it later.”

Giving your best energy to things that won’t matter five years from now while neglecting the people and responsibilities that will.

Moses prayed, “Teach us to number our days.”

In other words:

Lord, teach me to understand the value of today.

You cannot change yesterday.

Tomorrow isn’t promised.

But you have today.

Today you can pray.

Today you can forgive.

Today you can apologize.

Today you can train.

Today you can work.

Today you can spend time with your children.

Today you can finish something you’ve been putting off.

Today you can walk away from something that keeps pulling you backward.

Today you can obey God.

Wisdom is not simply knowing what matters.

Wisdom is allowing what matters to determine how you spend your days.

So don’t live today distracted by everything you could be doing.

Ask God:

“What deserves my life today?”

Then give yourself fully to it.

Today’s Scripture

“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin.”
~Zechariah 4:10

Brief Word:
Don’t mistake small progress for no progress.

Today’s Scripture

“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much.”
~Luke 16:10

Brief Word

What you do when nobody is impressed by it matters.

We often think purpose is found in the big moments the opportunity, the breakthrough, the platform, the promotion, the thing everybody can see.

But much of what God develops in us happens in ordinary days.

Getting up and doing what needs to be done.

Keeping your word. Handling your responsibilities.

Being present with your family.

Taking care of your body.

Managing what you already have.

Doing quality work even when nobody praises you for it.

Spending time with God when you don’t feel spiritual.

Those things may seem small, but they are building something: trustworthiness.

And Jesus connects trustworthiness with responsibility.

Sometimes we’re asking, “God, when are You going to give me more?”

But another question is worth asking:

“How am I handling what He has already given me?”

You don’t need a bigger assignment to become more faithful.

You can become more faithful today.

Don’t overlook the small responsibility because you’re dreaming about the big opportunity. Don’t neglect the people in front of you while imagining the people you hope to reach someday. Don’t keep beginning new things while leaving today’s work unfinished.

Handle what’s in your hands.

Finish the task.

Keep the commitment.

Make the call.

Have the conversation.

Do the work.

Pray.

Then get up tomorrow and do it again.

Because eventually, a life that looks powerful from the outside is usually built from thousands of ordinary decisions that nobody ever saw.

When life gets hard, it’s easy to give up.

I had somebody in my life tell me, “No, we don’t quit.”

It wasn’t something they told me over and over. It was one conversation at the right time.

I still remember that conversation to this day, and it’s been over 25 years.

That moment has stayed with me my whole life.

That’s why I am the way I am with my athletes. That’s why I am the way I am with the people God puts in my life. You never know when one conversation, one moment, or one decision not to give up can change somebody’s life forever.

If you’re reading this today, don’t give up. One day, you may be the person someone else needs at the right time.

Thank You, Lord. 🙏🏾🖤
