🏁 DIXIE SHOOTOUT SERIES – ROUND 5 | HUNTSVILLE UPDATE 🚀🏆🏆
What an AWESOME day for GBS Racing at the Huntsville Dixie! Gage is coming home with TWO ROCKET TROPHIES! 🚀🚀
🔴 Heavy Honda – P5
Gage was supposed to start P4 in the A-Main, but Dad made a mistake during a gear change and didn’t get the chain back on correctly. As we were pushing out for the A-Main, the chain popped off.
We got it fixed, but instead of starting P4, Gage had to drop all the way to the tail and start P12.
He did an awesome job with what he was dealt, working his way through the field from P12 to P5! This one definitely feels like a missed opportunity because we had a car capable of being on the podium, but Dad’s mistake put us behind from the start. Gage did everything he could to make up for it.
⚫ Heavy World Formula – P2
Starting P2, Gage settled in behind the leader early before Ledger Winterburn worked his way past both cars and took over the lead. Gage eventually worked his way into second, but the battle allowed Ledger to build a pretty big advantage.
Late in the race, Gage found his groove and started reeling him back in. With a couple laps to go, he had closed the gap, but just couldn’t get close enough to make the pass.
A strong P2 finish!
🚀 Heavy 160 – WIN! 🏆
Starting P2, Gage fell back to fourth early but went to work and battled his way back toward the front.
After getting back to third, he had an awesome battle with Molly Wheeler before finally taking over second. Then, late in the race, Gage made the move for the lead and held it over the final laps to grab the WIN!
And with that…
GAGE GOT HIS FIRST-EVER ROCKET TROPHY! 🚀🏆
After coming to Huntsville wanting to finally add one of these rockets to the trophy case, he got it done!
🚀 Unrestricted Animal – WIN! 🏆
Gage started from the pole but was passed early and fell back to second. He stayed after it, retook the lead around the middle of the race, and held the top spot through several cautions.
A late caution stacked the field back up, and Isaac Willis was able to get underneath Gage and take the lead in the closing laps. Gage crossed the finish line second on track, but following post-race tech, Gage was declared the winner!
That makes it TWO WINS and TWO ROCKET TROPHIES for Gage at the Huntsville Dixie! 🚀🏆🚀🏆
We couldn’t be prouder of our driver. He battled all day, overcame adversity, never gave up, and put together an incredible day of racing.
