Huge congrats to our Talons Women's Volleyball team who took its first win last night! The Talons won all three sets, 25-15, 25-8, 25-12 against UW-Whitewater at Rock County.

You can catch the team in action at its next home game against UW-Platteville at Baraboo at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, in the Public Safety Center on the Beloit-Janesville Campus.

Hey...that's me!

With the debut of Blackhawk's new athletics program, we're spotlighting the coaches who will lead our six new teams, including men’s golf, coed clay target shooting, women’s volleyball, coed bowling, and men’s and women’s basketball.

This week, meet Hansen McIlvaine, our new Talons Women’s Volleyball coach, who plans to bring a level of energy and positivity he hopes that will fuel the enjoyment of the game and maintain a positive, uplifting perspective.

Hello All! My name is Hansen McIlvaine, but everyone calls me (Coach) Mac. I will be joining the ranks of 608! I'm also looking forward to leaning into next season with an incredible coaching staff. I am very excited to get to meet everyone at the club, I have heard a lot of great things from players, parents and other coaches in the area!

Coaching has been a staple in my life, I started coaching middle school volleyball while I was still in high school and haven't stopped since. In high school I played for WJV's Dan Dresen at Union Grove, talk about full circle! While attending and playing club at Bradley University, I decided to start coaching club ball, then transferred to UW-Whitewater in 2019 where I started coaching in their mens club program.

I have coached previously with Madison Elite, Rock VBC (Janesville) and Eastside Jrs (Peoria, IL). This previous school year I coached Fort Atkinson Girls Volleyball and Boys Basketball Programs and long-term substitute taught Special Education Mathematics, such a challenging and rewarding experience. Additionally, this upcoming year I will be coaching the inaugural season at Blackhawk Technical College in Janesville!

Coaching for 10 years, playing for 15 in all has offered so many great experiences. One of my favorites was getting to work with Out Of System on their summer tour a few years ago, hopefully we can get a camp date for juniors on their tour in the future! My dad also played in the NBA for seven seasons, later mentored in the D-League and spent a decade on radio and TV for Marquette basketball.

Excited to meet all of you soon, can't wait to get started with all of you at 608!
