❤️ Parents…

As I’ve been reading The Gap and the Gain, one idea has really stuck with me, both as a sensei and as a dad.

It’s easy to compare our kids to the child who learns faster, listens better, or already has the next belt.

But that’s the wrong comparison.

Instead, compare them to the child who first walked through our doors.

Were they shy?
Did they struggle to focus?
Did they lack confidence?

Now look at them.

They’re stronger.
More confident.
More respectful.
More resilient.

The goal isn’t to be better than someone else.
The goal is to be better than yesterday.

Let’s celebrate the gain, not just the gap.

🐺 Which Wolf Are You Feeding?

This week in class we shared the Tale of the Two Wolves.

A grandson asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?”

The grandfather replied, “The one you feed.”

Every day we make choices.

Do we lose our temper or show self-control?

Do we make excuses or take responsibility?

Do we quit when things get hard or keep going?

The wolf that gets fed the most becomes the strongest.

One of the most important lessons we teach isn’t a kick, punch, or block.

It’s learning to lead yourself.

May 2026 Belt Graduation🥋

What a special night celebrating our graduates, demo team, girl power team, and East West Karate Jamison’s 14 year anniversary.

Graduates, we are proud of your dedication and work ethic. A lot of people catch spring fever and lose sight of their goals this time of year… but not you. You are goal getters, not goal forgetters.

To our Demo Team and Girl Power Team, your performances were awesome! The confidence, teamwork, leadership, and energy on that mat were amazing to watch.

And finally, thank you to every student, parent, instructor, and family who has been part of our 14 year journey. We are grateful for all of you.
