💛 Meet the Team: Roopa Mulki 💛
One of the best things that came out of last year's race was getting to work more closely with Roopa.
If you volunteered with us last year, there's a good chance you experienced the impact of her work—even if you didn't realize it.
Roopa stepped in to help coordinate volunteers and brought a level of organization, communication, and follow-through that made a huge difference. She has a gift for taking a lot of moving pieces and helping them come together.
Outside of race day, Roopa serves as COO of Sure Seal and brings over a decade of experience in business management, entrepreneurship, and nonprofit engagement. She holds an MBA and has worked across multiple industries, but what I appreciate most is her willingness to use those skills to help build something meaningful in our community.
I'm incredibly grateful for her support, her leadership, and the heart she brings to this race.
Please join me in thanking Roopa for all she does to help make Justify the Pie possible 💛

💛 Why We Support Servants Center 💛

Sometimes the most important changes don't happen all at once.

They happen through small moments of trust, consistency, and someone simply showing up again and again.

For months, one of Servants Center's Client Service Specialists, Kiel, walked alongside a man named JW who was living with severe mental illness and struggling to trust others. Through patience, encouragement, and genuine care, a relationship slowly began to grow.

Recently, while accompanying JW to an important medical appointment, Kiel faced a difficult moment when JW refused treatment. After a compassionate conversation, JW made the decision to receive his medication.

But what happened next may have been even more important.

JW shared that he knew the treatment was helping and that he understood Kiel encouraged him because he truly cared.

Today, JW has remained stably housed for six months—a milestone that once seemed out of reach.

That's what Servants Center does.

They show up.
They build relationships.
They walk alongside people through some of life's hardest seasons.

When you participate in Justify the Pie, you're helping support stories like this one.

And that matters more than you might realize 💛

This race may happen on Thanksgiving morning, but it's built all year long by an incredible group of people.

Over the next few weeks, I'd love to introduce you to some of the people who help make Justify the Pie possible. 💛

💛 Meet the Team: Rob Hyde 💛
It's hard for me to put into words just how important Rob has been to the success of Justify the Pie.
Long before there were hundreds of runners, medals, shirts, and pie, there was simply an idea. And Rob was one of the people who believed in that idea from the very beginning.
As our Course Director, Rob brings an incredible amount of experience and knowledge to the race. He has been a college cross country coach since 1998 and serves as race director for events ranging from 30 participants to more than 4,000. His experience spans virtually every race distance and every aspect of race management.
But what I'm most grateful for isn't his resume.
It's his willingness to share his knowledge, answer my endless questions, help solve problems, and encourage me when this race was little more than a dream.
There is no question that Justify the Pie is a better race because of Rob's guidance and support.
Thank you, Rob, for believing in me, believing in this race, and helping make it what it is today 💛

There are a lot of things I look forward to each year as we build this race.
The people.
The mission.
The stories.
And if I'm being honest... seeing this year's shirt and beanie finally come together is pretty high on the list too 😄

I'm excited to finally share them with you!

I love creating race swag that feels comfortable, simple, and something you'll actually wear after race day.
Every participant will receive this year's race shirt as part of their registration.

The beanie is available as an add-on for just $10.

And because our volunteers are such an important part of what makes this race special, every volunteer will receive a volunteer shirt and a beanie 💛

So tell me...
Which one are you most excited about?
💛 Shirt
💛 Beanie
And if you haven't registered yet, we'd love to have you join us this Thanksgiving morning.

I have to laugh a little...

I turned 61.
I planned to give away 6 race entries.
And exactly 6 people entered. 😄

So congratulations to our winners:

🥧 Debbie Wetrich Snider
🥧 Shannon Huseby
🥧 Carrie Schaefer
🥧 Cheryl Lubbers

Sometimes things work out exactly as they're supposed to.

But since I love birthdays so much, I don't think one day of celebrating is enough 🎉

To keep the birthday fun going, I'm offering $5 off registration for the next two weeks.

Use code: BIRTHDAY5

Whether you've run with us before or have been thinking about joining us for the first time, I'd love to have you be part of this year's race.

Thank you for celebrating with me and for being part of this wonderful community. I can't wait to see what we build together this year 💛
