The Most Underrated Tilt in Wrestling 🔥

If you aren’t using this hammerlock tilt, you’re leaving back points on the mat.

The secret? It’s all in the knee block. Spiral ➡️ Reverse Chop ➡️ Block the elbow with the knee ➡️ Drive forward and secure the wrist on the back. Once that arm is trapped, the underhook is wide open. Push off, tilt, and collect your points.

Cue the retired JV guys in the comments telling me why this won’t work in a real match… 🤣👇

Stop pulling a leg rider’s leg into your chest! 🛑 You’re literally doing the work for them.

Here’s the breakdown:

1️⃣ Short Sit: Get low and compact. Drop that hip.
2️⃣ Create Opposing Pressure: Grab the foot, dig your elbow hard into their shin, and force their foot to the mat.

3️⃣ Clear & Switch: Hop your feet clear, immediately switch your grip to the opposite hand.

4️⃣ Post & Reverse: Post up, drive your weight back into them, and take top control.

Rule #1 of defending a leg rider: DON’T let them in! 🛑

If you know you’re up against someone who loves to throw legs, your defense starts before they even make a move. Keep those hands super light and be ready to seal off that space instantly.

If they do manage to hang that leg over… grab the shin, shuck it across your back as hard as you can, and pivot out! 💥

One wrestler choked unconscious. Came back and wrestled.

Another wrestler ore his bicep in the first 10 seconds. Finished the match. Won.

The next match a guy broke his finger. Taped it up. Kept going.

This was RAF 10. This is what real looks like.

Too many wrestlers out here milking injuries looking for an excuse to skip practice or duck competition. Meanwhile, these guys are proving that the sport isn’t for the soft.

Your “injury” is someone else’s warm-up.

Here’s the truth: Your body will quit long before your mind has to. The ones who separate themselves from the pack aren’t the most talented — they’re the ones who refuse to give themselves a way out. Stop looking for the exit and start looking for the next round. Tape it up. Get back on the mat. The wrestler you’re meant to become is on the other side of the pain you keep avoiding.

🛑 STOP DOING THIS WHEN YOU GET CAUGHT IN A HEADLOCK! 🛑

If your first instinct when someone grabs a head and arm is to circle behind them… you’re setting yourself up to get tossed! ✈️💥

In this breakdown, Coach shows exactly why circling back is the biggest mistake youth wrestlers make—and what you need to do instead to turn the tables and get the takedown.

Here’s the fix:

1️⃣ Lock & Pull: Lock your hands around their torso and pull them in TIGHT.

2️⃣ Hips In: Close the distance! Bring your hips right to theirs.

3️⃣ Circle FRONT: Don’t go behind! Circle to the front away from the lock.

4️⃣ Squat, Hips & Lift: Drop your weight, drive those hips in, and take them straight up and back to the mat! 💥💪
