Don Saylor, a Kentucky native who has spent the last thirty something years in Alabama. He comes from a long line of Saylors who built things with their hands, things made to stand the test of time. Over the years, Don has spent lots of time hiking through the woods, rifle in hand, hunting turkey, deer, wild hogs, squirrels – anything that might make for a nice supper. nd the best calls in your choice of mahogany, cherry, walnut and cedar. We can also fill custom orders for calls made from rosewood, zebrawood and mesquite. Choose from single- or double-sided friction calls made with glass or slate, as well as box calls and diaphragm calls. Straight Creek Calls are NOT mass-produced. We make each and every call by hand so that we can control the quality and the exception of all the calls. Don play's each and every call to make sure it has the best possible sound. Don't just Call 'Em.......Kill 'Em! Now To tell you a little more about Straight Creek and how it come to be! Straight Creek Calls is a family business. In fact I chose the name"Straight Creek" because it reminds me of my family home. I was born and raised in the Appalachians near the Cumberland Gap in a small community called Stoney Fork. If someone asked for directions I would just say it was off the right fork of Straight Creek. (Mountain people would understand that!)

I fell in love with an Alabama girl and moved here thirty something years ago. During the week I worked as a machinist, and on the weekend, my boys and I went hunting. Today, my sons and nephew help with production and sales. My wife keeps track of the business end of things, and that “Handcrafted by Saylor” you see engraved on all of my calls? That’s my oldest grandson’s handwriting. I spend my days hunched over my lathe and milling machine in the shop out behind our house. I am absolutely committed to quality – if a call doesn’t sound just right, into the discount bin it goes. That dedication to excellence is probably why our sales have tripled in the last year. Had an awsome hunt last week in west Texas with my two sons and nephew. Tim and Brian both got a nice gobbler. Tony got two nice gobblers and i struck out but had a blast.I have never seen so many wild animals in my life. It was worth every minute of it just seeing the joy on the faces of my sons and nephew. Thanks to J B for inviting us to hunt on his ranch. It was a hunt i will never forget. Thanks J B.

Got an Alabama public land mountain gobbler today after the wind let up. 18 lbs 10 1/8 inch beard and 7/8 inch spurs.
