🏀COACH SHARAE SCHMITT🏀 JHS MAIDEN BASKETBALL HEAD COACH
Coach Sharae Schmitt is the head girls basketball coach for the Fightin’ Maiden Basketball Program and a proud, God-fearing woman who puts God first in her life. Her favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” which inspires her daily. Born and raised in Jacksonville, she is a former Fightin’ Maiden athlete, having graduated from Jacksonville High School in 2009. As a former, all-around athlete herself, she lettered in four sports during her freshman year of high school. Sharae earned a full-ride scholarship to play collegiate basketball, where she completed her Associate of Science before transferring to Texas A&M University-Commerce. There, she attained both her Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Performance and her Master of Science in Health, Kinesiology, and Sport Studies.
Now in her 9th year of coaching, with 8 of those as a head coach, Sharae is dedicated to developing her student-athletes both on and off the court. Married to Cody Schmitt, who is the freshmen football coach and head boys basketball coach at Jacksonville High, they have three wonderful children. In addition to coaching, Sharae teaches high school physical education and girls athletics. As the varsity head girls basketball coach and head girls track and field coach, she focuses on guiding young student-athletes through their personal and athletic journeys.
Sharae is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Leadership-Health and Human Performance with aspirations to engage in research, along with other big plans for the future. We are thrilled to have Coach Schmitt continuing to lead our program and inspiring the next generation of athletes!
