Our PROMISE open play schedule for 9/22-10/1.

Come out and join us for a morning of structured and unstructured activities, you choose! We provide the equipment, you bring the fun. Activities will be tailored to the Special Needs community. No registration required, all ages welcome.

Join us at the Commons on Tuesday/Thursdays from 10A-12P, be on the lookout for our calendar every 2 weeks.

🏀Youth Basketball Registration Opens Monday!🏀

Registration starts Monday, September 21st for the next youth basketball season.

Fees: $45/Resident, $65/Non-Resident
Late fees: $5 late fee applied to registrations after 10/9
Ages: Boys 5-15, Girls 5-12
Registration is available online or in person at 100 Recreation Lane

First time registrants: If it is your child’s first time registering for a program, you must provide a copy of your child’s birth certificate and proof of residency

Volunteer Coaches:
If you know an adult who is interested in coaching youth sports, call the athletic office at 910 938-5268 or please fill out the Volunteer Coaching Application (https://jacksonvillenc.gov/DocumentCenter/View/11105/Coaching-App-2021-Form?bidId=) and submit to [email protected] or stop by 100 Recreation Lane to fill one out in person.

Certainly a strange...and unusual...Family Fun House this year! 🪲

Something strange is happening at Northwoods… and you’re invited to step inside! 👻

Expect a night filled with quirky characters, creepy surprises, and just the right amount of weird for the whole family. Come dressed in your favorite Halloween costume and see if you can make it through! Enjoy games in the back after the walkthrough.

Our final Movie in the Park of the season is upon us 😭

Join us at the Commons Festival Field on Friday, September 18th as we screen a tail-wagging classic: Air Bud!

Fun starts at 5:45PM, movie will roll at dusk. Don't forget your blankets or lawnchairs, concessions will be available for purchase.

Food trucks available for purchase will be Pelican's SnoBalls and Yum Yum Haven!

Pin Pals is back this fall!

Come join us for a fun night of bowling for youth/ adults with developmental and/or physical disabilities.

A $12 fee is directly payable to Bowlarena and includes 2 games of bowling and shoe rental for the evening. Individuals requiring additional assistance are welcome to bring family members or a personal assistant.

Program starts back on Monday, September 28th from 6:30-8:30PM.

Pack the lunch, lace the boots, and join us for an adventure at Cliffs of the Neuse State Park as we kick off our SOAR program with a destination hike!

📅Friday, September 18
⏰7:30AM-2:30PM
💲$15 (packing your own lunch)
💲$27 (we pack the lunch for you)

We'll hit the trails for a scenic 3 mile hike featuring some uneven and elevated terrain as well as a beautiful lake. The hike will last about an hour and a half, giving us plenty of time to enjoy nature at it's best! Afterward, we will relax together in the parks picnic area and enjoy our packed lunches before heading home. We can't wait to explore with you!

*If choosing us to provide lunch - options will be turkey or ham sandwhich with chips and a cookie

*We highly suggest bringing extra water and snacks with you, we will provide water after the hike as well

*Please see Adult Center for further instructions if packing your own lunch to bring

We’re excited to introduce a brand-new Youth Track & Field Program in partnership with Push Thru Track Club! 🎉

Designed for boys and girls ages 6–9, this recreational program will introduce young athletes to the exciting world of track & field while building confidence, coordination, teamwork, and fundamental athletic skills.

Participants will work on:
✨ Proper running form & mechanics
⚡ Speed & sprint fundamentals
🏃‍♂️ Agility, coordination & plyometrics
💪 Endurance & conditioning
🤝 Relay skills & teamwork
🏅 Basic track & field events, terminology & rules

📅 Saturdays, October 3–31
⏰ 9:00–11:00 AM
👟 Ages 6–9
👥 Registration is required, spots are limited

This first season is all about learning, growing, and having fun—with a focus on athlete development rather than competition!
