High Intensity Functional Group Training

Heart rate technology backed by proven science to ensure you are maximizing your calories burned!

Seven spots isn’t a marketing number.

It’s a coaching decision.

Because being in a group shouldn’t mean becoming invisible.

Your coach should still be able to see your form.

Help you develop technique.

Adjust the movement when needed.

Know when to add weight — and when better movement matters more.

Track what you’ve done and help you progress from there.

That’s why we keep our group sessions small.

You still get the energy of training with other people.

You just don’t lose the coaching.

Week 19.

Nineteen weeks ago, Claire Anderson Seibly had a total knee replacement.

And she has been making incredible progress.

Claire is kind of a unicorn.

She listens.

She works.

She asks good questions.

And every week, she gives us a little more to build on.

This week we talked about continuing to strengthen the VMO, the inner part of the quad that plays an important role in knee control and extension.

One of the tools we used was a backward sled drag.

For Claire, we did 25 meters at a time.

The nice thing about the sled is that we can load it appropriately, keep the movement controlled, and get a lot of quality quad work without making the exercise complicated.

The goal was simple:

Controlled backward steps.

Finish each step.

Keep tension through the legs.

Build strength and confidence.

Nineteen weeks in, she’s still progressing.

Still learning.

Still getting stronger.

Way to go, Claire. 🔥

You don’t have to be ready for HYROX before you start training for HYROX.

That’s what the training is for.

Saturday was Week 17. Sharpening.
Shorter work. Higher effort.
Run. Station. Run again.
Carries, lunges, rowing, wall balls — with your heart rate up and your legs already gone.

Not just doing the movements. Learning to do them tired.

That’s the difference between working out and training for something.
You build the engine.
You learn the stations.
You find your pacing.
Then you sharpen it as the race gets close.

We do that every week.

Three things we worked on with Diana’s squat.

She’s new to the barbell. Sunday sessions. Showed up every week.

One. Stance came in. Her feet were wider than her hips needed, and the knees were caving to make up for it.

Two. We slowed the rep down. Three seconds on the way down. The speed was hiding the position.

Three. Brace before you move. Big breath, belly out, then descend. Not the other way around.

None of that is advanced.

All of it is the difference between a squat that builds something and a squat that just gets done.

Follow along. We’ll revisit these in a few weeks.

Nine o’clock on a Sunday morning, and there’s already a barbell loaded on the rig.

We’ve been doing this for five weeks now.

Nobody has to be here.

Nobody’s trying to have a perfect Sunday.

And that’s one of the things I like about this session.

It was never about seeing how exhausted I could make everybody.

It’s an hour to slow things down.

Get coached.

Build a skill.

Work on technique.

Get more comfortable with the lifts.

And leave a little better than you walked in.

Better form.

Quality reps.

More range.

A little more confidence under the weight.

That’s training.

And the other part I like is that we track our numbers.

We log the work.

We measure progress.

Last week you lifted something.

This week you get to find out if you can push a little more weight, do a few more reps, or move the same weight with more quality.

That’s the feedback.

The weights will tell you.

I coach this one myself, and five weeks in, I still really enjoy it.

So I’m curious.

Do you like to train on Monday because it’s Monday…

or on Sunday because you like getting a win on the board before Monday gets here?

Week 17. We’re sharpening now.

Tampa is about six weeks out.

Nashville is about 13.

At this point, the goal isn’t just to add more work.

It’s to start asking athletes to produce more effort in shorter windows and get comfortable doing it under fatigue.

This morning:

1:50 work / :30 rest
8 movements
16 intervals
2 rounds

Plus a 1K at the end of the warm-up and a one-mile finisher.

Not a long session.

But the intensity starts to climb.

And the order matters.

We opened with:

Run → Farmer’s Carry → Run

That little sequence starts to recreate one of the biggest demands of HYROX:

Run.

Do work.

Run again.

Then we kept building from there.

Posterior-chain work.

RowErg.

Sandbag walking lunges—enough time in the interval to work the step-through pattern, get the knee down, and keep moving under fatigue.

Standing chops to challenge the upper body and trunk.

Then wall balls.

Sets of 20.

Twenty reps.

Short rest.

Twenty more.

Because by the time you get to wall balls in a race, pacing and repeatable sets matter just as much as whether you can physically do the reps.

That’s where we are in the training now.

Less about just surviving the workout.

More about sharpening the pieces we’re going to need in Tampa and Nashville.

Higher effort.
Shorter intervals.
Better pacing.
Cleaner transitions.

Week 17 in the books. 🔥

Kylie sent me this after I checked in and asked if she was starting to see results.

That’s always a good message to get.

What stood out to me was this part:

“I can handle heavier weight in workouts now.”

That’s real progress.

Kylie comes in at 6 in the morning, puts in the work, listens, learns, and keeps getting better.

She’s got a lot of family support behind her, and you can tell. She shows up with a great attitude, she’s very mature for her age, and she’s been a great fit for our community.

And I appreciate this part just as much as the strength gains:

“I love the gym a whole lot and getting to know the people there.”

That matters.

Getting stronger matters.

Feeling like you belong while you’re doing it matters too.

We are so happy for you, Kylie.

You’re off to a great start, and I think you’re going to do some big things. 🔥
