Tonight, we pause to honor and remember a beloved member of the University Christian family, Matt Thomas.
Matt was a proud 1994 graduate of University Christian, and he truly bled blue and gold his entire life. UC was more than a school to Matt—it was home.
Matt played here, coached here, and poured his heart into the young people and teams he served. Perhaps most special of all, he had the opportunity to coach his two sons, Caleb and Luke, right here at University Christian.
Tonight, we are honored to celebrate Matt’s life and his lasting impact on the UC family by officially retiring his number 55 jersey.
This jersey will be presented to Matt’s high school sweetheart and wife of 28 years, Leanne Thomas, along with his two sons, Caleb and Luke.
Matt, tonight and throughout this season, we play in your honor.
Your legacy lives on in the players you coached, the students you encouraged, the friendships you made, and most of all, in the family you loved so deeply.
We love you, we miss you, and we will always remember you, Coach.
At this time, we ask everyone to please stand and join us for a moment of silence in memory of Matt Thomas, followed by a prayer and the singing of our National Anthem.
