Open and civil discussion time.
We saw a post today about aggressive driving becoming a problem at a track.
With all the RTR classes being introduced there are sure to be many newcomers to the tracks which is a great thing.
BUT chances are they need to be gently taught about driver etiquette. When Derek Coy and Chad Coy got started the instructional videos of he RC Circle Jerkz were detrimental to knowing how to be a good sport at the track and it also built confidence in us before our 1st day at the track because we already had some great information before went.
So, our question is, What do you think is the most forgotten / overlooked aspect of driver etiquette?
We will go 1st since it's our page. 🤣
One of the biggest things we believe racers could work on is stepping back and staying on the driver's stand until the race is over if your car is broken or pulled off.

Here is the video to this day could be a great reminder.

So we start this video series with a nice easy one to start with. W...

Much longer post than normal coming up

Yesterday Chad Coy and honorary Coy Brother's guest David Long ventured over to Raw RC Raceway for the finale of the Whitz Racing Tri-State Challenge Series . It has been great to partner with this series as a sponsor but also SO much fun to experience it as a participant as well.
We have been away from racing for quite a long time and decided we wanted support this track and this series for our 1st time back. It for sure did not disappoint!
As far as our race day, Chad brought a brand new sprint car to run in the 13.5 class and once he got some kinks worked out it was an amazing car to drive. After heat races he was ranked 18th out of 33 entries which put him in the D-main. He was in a battle for the lead with two other cars when a pop up monsoon hit the track bringing the races to a halt. After the rain delay they did a complete restart and early race contact by another car set him too far back to make it up. In all for the 1st time out on a brand new track with a brand new car and this caliber of competition ihe is pretty satisfied with this showing. The brand new Team Exalt batteries and motor gave him all the power he needed and it was probably the fastest, best handling 13.5 car he has ever had.
When it was all said and done he would end up ranked 23 out of 33 for the night.
The street stock has been giving him fits here lately as the car is very fast but just wants to spin out. In the 1st heat race it was manageable with some throttle control but inThe second heat and the D-main it was just to much and he pulled off so he didn't take a chance of ruining anybody else's run for series points. After races we inspected it and made some changes and are hoping it will be better next we hit the track. For this class with the two pull offs Chad ended his night in the D-main ranked 20th out of 20.
We have to give a shout out to Wolfman Motorsports Cuz Motorsp CkSpeedshop By Knebel and Brickhouse Rc Raceway for all the help and support throughout the day!
Dave raced a loaner car in the Novice class where he won a heat race and took TQ starting him on the front of the A-main. He stayed very steady and led most of the race.
When he got almost 1 lap on 2nd place he cut a corner to close and ended up on his top causing him to finish 2nd.
Now, on to the series and the facility:
We cannot say enough about the track crew and series promoters to make this happen.
Dustin Groover Don Groover and Shannon Huffman busted their butts all day and all night to make the track top notch. Even after rain soaked the track they still kept going and we ended up with an amazing racing surface to finish the mains!
Kevin W. Smith and Caitlyn Smith also worked tirelessly to make sure the show ran smooth and the points were taken care of.
We loved the fact that they ran a 50/50 with half of it going to pay turn marshals. This is a huge step to make the race day go by smoother since you dont have to wait minutes per race for you turn marshals to show up. This also allowed the racers to take care of anything that their cars needed and allowed them to fully focus on the tasks at hand.
Also implementing a 45 second max rule for hot laps before you line up for the race cuts a lot of time out as well.
Over all it was a long day but it felt great to get back to the track and catch up with friends!
