Meet Coach Lily! This is Lily’s first year coaching with I Heart Surf, but she is a “legacy hire” as the younger sister to the amazing Coach Kendall… Like most of us at I Heart Surf, Lily loves the beach and anything outdoors— a great combo for a surf coach! 🤙

We are SO STOKED to announce the launch of our hybrid summer program, Surf & Adventure Camp!! (swipe for more info)

Enjoy all the fun of IHS's Surf Camp program, AND get to experience a different local adventure in the afternoons!
This summer we have three weeks with a FULL DAY option for our adventurous campers:

*Traditional 9-12 surf camp will still run these weeks for parents who only want the morning option
*Full Day campers pay an additional fee, and pick-up will be at the beach access at 4pm
* Space is limited, reserve your spots today

🏄‍♂️🏄‍♀️School was Out and Surf was Up! 🏄‍♀️ 🏄‍♂️

What a great day we had at Surf & Adventure Camp!

We spent the morning refreshing our surf and water safety skills, and riding some SUPER fun and clean waves! Even the first-timers were up and having a blast… not so many photos of the surf, but we were ALL SMILES in the water!

After a picnic lunch, we headed to see our friends at for an afternoon of fun! The staff did an amazing job fitting our crew and teaching them climbing etiquette and proper safety (the “how to fall” tutorial is always a favorite 🤩).
The campers wore themselves out competing with themselves and each other at the gym.

So grateful for this crew today! They all had positive energy, charged the waves and rock walls, and were a blast to spend the day with.

🤙🤙 Staff Highlight: Meet Lacie, owner and head surf coach for I Heart Surf! 🏄‍♀️ 💜

Lacie is a Jax native, fitness instructor, wife, mom, and lover of all things outdoors! Her passion for outdoor pursuits was greatly inspired by the summers she spent away in the woods at summer camp. She became a counselor as soon as she was old enough, and found her calling working with youth .

Lacie earned a Bachelors Degree in Recreation and Leisure Services Administration (with an emphasis in Outdoor Recreation) from Florida State University. It wasn’t until her first summer back home from college that Lacie decided to indulge in a life-long curiosity…. Surfing!
Since her first session in the water (with her college besties), Lacie was hooked. A million wipe-outs and frustrated walks of shame later, she still couldn’t get enough.

In 2017 Lacie decided get certified as a fitness trainer. She simultaneously ran recreation camps and trained clients at a local country club. In 2020 she took over the Surf Camps at the club, creating a comprehensive curriculum focused on the fundamentals of surfing. This camp was Lacie’s “baby” for 4 summers, and she even hosted the club’s first ever Surf Contest in 2022.

In August 2023 Lacie decided to once again change course. She dove headfirst into her career as a full-time fitness professional and started her own Surf Brand— I Heart Surf!!

Few things motivate and inspire Lacie more than her career as a coach— Whether it’s in the gym helping people of all ages work towards their wellness goals, or in the water helping someone catch their first wave. She always aims to meet each client where they are at— physically and emotionally.

🙌🙌 Meet “Coach Mike” (Michael Rizzo) - Surf Coach - Dad - Husband 🤙

🏄‍♂️A Jacksonville native, a diehard Jaguars fan, and self-proclaimed “waterman”, Mike grew up exploring the woods and salt marshes of the Intracoastal Waterways, surfing with his friends and fishing with his father.

🏄‍♂️ Mike got his first surfboard when he was 7 years old, instantly sparking his love for surfing and the ocean. Over the past 35 years, Mike has gained the knowledge and skills to teach others how to catch the stoke of surfing– just like he did.

🏄‍♂️ Mike joined the U.S. Navy at 18 and was stationed in Pearl Harbor, HI. While living there, he got to surf, fish and swim in some of the most beautiful places.

🏄‍♂️ Today Mike is a Firefighter/EMT and holds a Red Cross Lifeguard certification, enabling him to ensure the safety of all participants.

🏄‍♂️ Mike coached youth football for 6 years and began "officially" coaching surfing in 2022. His love for teaching and helping people of all ages is what brings him the most joy. Watching participants catch their first wave (and the smiles it brings to their faces!) is unmatched.
