You do not need to force the full movement to be doing the work.

Every move has a next-best version.

If grip is the challenge, we adjust the grip.
If range of motion is limited, we lower the apparatus.
If balance needs support, we use a supported version.
If confidence is still building, we rehearse from the floor or shorten the hold.

That is not failure.
That is intelligent coaching infrastructure.

Especially when you’re a nurse, an HR director, or a woman in her 40s carrying a body history, an injury concern, or simply the wisdom to begin safely.

The Weekly Interruption is a structured pause built on infrastructure over motivation; and I personally teach every Tuesday session.

Aerial Foundations with Crystal includes a rotation through Pole, Aerial Hoop, Aerial Hammock, and Integration.

Tuesdays at 6 PM
75 minutes
Maximum 8 women
No prior experience, flexibility, or fitness required

$35 for one session

Dionne is teaching the chaîné: not just showing it.

Spot before you turn.
Transfer your weight.
Keep your alignment organized.
Finish safely so you can do it again.

That is Pole and Aerial Dance at Taboo: form, study, and art. The goal is not to collect a trick you can barely repeat. It is to understand what your body is doing while you move: what to engage, when to engage it, where to place your weight, and how to finish safely.

That is where the care lives: in the details, the correction, and the women learning beside you.

Aerial Foundations with Crystal is for women who want skilled instruction: not random tricks or another unstructured workout.

Tuesdays at 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM
60 minutes · up to 8 women
No experience needed

A pretty shape is not the same as a well-executed shape.

Week 2 is Pole: and we are studying what makes the movement work:

Where to place your weight.
What to engage.
When to engage it.
How to exit safely.
How to repeat the movement without guessing.

At Taboo, Pole and Aerial Dance are taught as form, study, and art. The point is not only getting into a shape. It is understanding your body well enough to execute the movement with control: and live to tell about it.

That care is self-love in practice. It supports long-term practice, deeper trust, and the kind of sisterhood where you do not have to learn alone.

Aerial Foundations with Crystal meets Tuesdays at 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Each session is 60 minutes, capped at 8 women, with no experience needed.

It’s Week One of the brand-new Hard Style & Trick-Heavy Season at Taboo, and this week has been all about Aerial Hoop/Lyra.

Tonight is your last chance this week to see what it’s all about.

Class starts at 7:15 PM at Taboo Dance & Aerial Fitness.

You don’t need to walk in advanced. You’ll be coached through the apparatus and your first movement piece by piece.

Some rooms hold more than movement.

They hold the proof.

At Taboo, we’ve spent 10 years making room for women to tell stories through movement: with 15+ showcases produced, rehearsed, witnessed, and carried into the world.

That room is where confidence gets practiced.
Where craft gets sharpened.
Where community makes visibility possible.

Now, the story moves forward with NZO Dance Theatre: Mississippi-built, story-driven movement with something to say.

SERMONING belongs to NZO.
Taboo is honored to be part of the studio and community context that helps stories take shape.

Pilates is having her soft-power summer. We respect it.

But if you thought controlled core work had to stay on a mat… baby, come meet her sister.

Pilates plank → Pole plank
Brace the core. Stabilize the shoulders. Stay in control.

Pilates isometric hold → Pole sit
Same stillness. Same inner-thigh conversation. A little more Taboo attitude.

Pilates bridge → Floorwork bridge
Glutes working. Spine organized. Movement slow enough to feel.

Pilates straddle hold → Pole squat straddle
Core control, posture, and focus: now with a pole and an entrance.

These are movement parallels, not identical exercises. Pole does not replace Pilates, and Pilates does not need replacing. They are sisters with different personalities, training some of the same qualities through different forms.

And if you’re a beginner? Perfect. Aerial Foundations with Crystal is where we build the control piece by piece: no prior trick experience required. Trick-style season starts in 5 days, on September 1.
