Our record-breaking season has come to a close in spectacular Black Mountain fashion. Our final weekend of this record-breaking season was filled with skiing in the sun, incredible Apres at the Alpine Cabin, and a send-off set from Motor B***y Affair that will not be soon forgotten.

Over the 25/26 season, Black Mountain saw the most visits in its entire 91-year history. This almost closed, and forgotten mountain has gone through a once-in-a-generation transformation and rebirth. If this "little mountain that could" played a role in making your ski season special, we’d appreciate your vote in Ski Magazine’s 2027 Reader Resort Survey. Letter From The GM - A Record Season Ends This Weekend

In 91 years, Black Mountain has never had a season like this one. Spanning an astonishing 7 months, our closing day will be Sunday, May 17th. Black Mountain operated more in this single ski season than the 22/23 and 23/24 seasons combined. We will have surpassed our previous closing day record set last year by a full two weeks. We will cross the finish line in an exact tie with our partners at Jay Peak being the last two Indy Pass areas open in North America. Black Mountain will only be outlasted in New England by powerhouse Killington. Preparations are already underway to give our friends there a real run for their money next year.

This year, our final weekend will provide sunny skies and highs approaching 70. The Double and Triple will run from 9 am to 7 pm on Saturday and Sunday. We will have a very white, full-width route from the alpine cabin, spread across 4 trails. We will groom 100% of open terrain each morning, and by the evenings, you can expect rowdy bump lines everywhere. The weather will be perfect. The skiing fantastic.

We are known for our hard charging and cover-free live music, but this all-star weekend will be next level. On Saturday, live music kicks off at noon with Matt & Friends. My last Champagne DJ set of the year runs 2-4 pm at the Alpine Cabin with resident saxophonist Matt Dolliver accompanying. Country Ham rocks the back deck at the base from 3-6 pm. The main event starts right after on the new flagship main stage. The one and only Motor B***y Affair will shake this place, only to be interrupted by a world-class fireworks display after dusk.

Make sure you save a bit for Sunday, when we will celebrate closing day with live music all day. Joe Agnello starts at 11 am. Fan favorite Diana’s Bath Salts jumps into the mix at 1:30 pm. The Jonathan Sarty Band takes us all the way to the last chair at 7 pm. The second annual end-of-season champagne toast is on the back deck shortly after. This will be a proper send-off.

All weekend, we are going all out on food, beverage, and retail offerings. The alpine cabin will be fully stocked for sunny fondue and champagne deck lounging. Our Base Lodge buffet will run nonstop from 9 am to 9 pm on Saturday, featuring dozens of your Black Mountain favorites across breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Pizza and wings will be served till at least when the music ends. We have you covered Sunday morning with our headache brunch and lots of leftovers all day. Our entire retail store will be 50% off all weekend. If you have been waiting for that hat, hoodie, or Dale sweater, now is the time.

I am beyond thankful and grateful to everyone who has been a part of this remarkable season. Together we smashed every record one could possibly find. I can tell you that this little mountain is nowhere near done making big news, and I have more coming soon. But first, we will celebrate the sport and culture of skiing with a closing weekend that will not soon be forgotten. It is a fitting end to an extraordinary season and yet another page in this incredible comeback story.

Thanks for being here.

Free Skiing for ALL Moms on Mother’s Day at Black Mountain; a note from our GM:

Dear Ski Moms,

Thank you for buying us one-piece snow suits, ski swap gear, and our lift tickets. And thank you for buying most of it again when we quickly outgrew, lost, or forgot the stuff you just bought us. Thank you for putting us in ski school, even though Dad said he could teach us for free. Thank you for picking us up early from ski school, the end-of-the-day laps with just us will always be the best runs of the day.

Thank you for making sure we always had breakfast early enough to get a good parking spot. Thank you for reminding us to eat lunch. Thank you for always having snacks in your pocket so we could eat on the lift and keep charging. Thank you for teaching us to pizza when all we wanted were french fries. Thank you for telling us to turn. Thank you for picking us up when we did not turn. Thank you for making us ski tree runs so that we were forced to turn. Thank you for the hugs in the lodge, on the lift, and in the car on the way home. Thank you for being the best part of skiing.

Erik Mogensen
President and General Manager

As a thank you, we will be offering free skiing to all moms this Mother's Day. Thanks for being here, and thank you, Mom, for putting us on skis.

Early next week, expect a full Letter From The GM about closing date information and event details.

It is not over yet, but we are getting very close. Thanks to some incredible work by our grooming team (must see video above), the Black Mountain Glacier is back for another weekend. We are among the last open areas in North America, and one of only three in the Northeast still offering lift-served turns. The forecast keeps getting better and better. The vibe will be off the charts as this weekend is our first-ever Reggae Fest.

Lifts will spin from 9 am to 7 pm on Saturday and 9 am to 5 pm on Sunday. Saturday is Bathing Suit Day, so break out your favorite bathing suit and bring the sunscreen because it will be a full-on beach party all over the mountain. Swing by the Island Buffet for all your favorites, including jerk chicken, curried beef, Jamaican wild rice, and caramelized banana shortcake.

The music lineup is stacked. On Saturday, DJ Erik w/ a K and Matt D on Sax will be at the Cabin starting at 3 pm. Jahriffe takes over the Base from 3-6 pm, followed by headliner Soul Rebel Project from 6-9:30 pm.

Sunday, we have our Mother’s Day Brunch from 10-1, complete with Champagne "Momosas," and we promise a special lift ticket price for all moms that will be the best deal in skiing on Sunday. Jarred Garneau keeps the music going at the Base from 1-4 pm.

Throw on your bathing suit and grab your people. Special ticket pricing gives you no excuse to not be at Black Mountain this weekend.

What a spring it’s been at Black Mountain — and we are nowhere near done.

We’ve had a remarkable spring season so far, with unforgettable weekends, great snow, and the mountain still going strong. We’re open, we’re loaded with snow, and this weekend is the perfect time to get here.

Super Hero Hip-Hop Weekend kicks off tomorrow, and Saturday is Cape Day, so bring your best superhero costume and hit the slopes. The Summit Double runs 9am–7pm, the Triple runs 9am–4pm, and lift tickets are just $49 for adults and $39 for kids. Plus, Sunset Ski is only $15 from 4–7pm.

We’ve got live music all weekend from My Guy, DJ Erik w/ a K, Matt Dolliver, The Frank White Experience (A Notorious BIG Tribute Band), and Jay Burwick, plus Sunday lifts from 9am–5pm and Recovery Brunch with Build Your Own Bloody Marys.

The lifts are still spinning, and Spring at Black continues to surpass all expectations.

Five Indy resorts in the Lower 48 are going head-to-head with Mother Nature, pushing the limits to keep the ski season alive as long as possible.

Their message is clear: it’s about prioritizing people over profits. Extending the season takes an enormous amount of effort and often clashes with the bottom line. At the end of the day, being open matters, and it's done for the shared reward of more time on the mountain.

For Indy Passholders, it’s an open invitation to say yes to a grand adventure and support these resorts for their hard work.

25/26 Closing Dates of Remaining Indy Resorts in North America:

❄️ Black Mountain, NH - TBD
❄️ Jay Peak, VT - TBD
❄️ Loveland Ski Area, CO - April 26 (pending conditions)
❄️ Norway Mountain, MI - Bonus day April 25 and more TBD

Letter From The GM - A Little Mountain That Keeps Going Big

We smashed through a few records this week. 50 snowguns hammered the mountain from summit to base during a full-on snowmaking charge Monday and Tuesday. This is the latest we have ever made snow. Our continuing late-season operations, combined with our earliest opening ever, make this the longest season in Black Mountain’s 91-year history. Having been the first ski area to open in the state on November 15th and now the only remaining open ski area, we can now claim the longest ski season in New Hampshire. This remarkable feat by a south-facing and low-elevation mountain was entirely unthinkable 18 months ago.

Last year, we closed on May 3rd. I am confident that we will surpass that record, pushing lift-served skiing and riding deeper into May. The Black Mountain Glacier™ has an average base depth of over 15 feet. While unlikely, if we see temperatures that are cold enough for snowmaking, we will fire up the system again without thinking twice about it. While it is looking like a toss-up on making it to Memorial Day Weekend, I do know for sure that this little mountain and everyone who works here are going to give it our all and try to make it.

The number of people coming to Black Mountain remains high, and we are open through Sunday, 4/26, then moving to a Saturday and Sunday schedule for as long as possible. Our parking lots have been full on the weekends, and going forward, all staff will be parking off-site to make sure people have room. As the base area parking fills up, we will start up our new dedicated shuttle bus servicing nearby additional parking. Our “Second Season” Spring Events Calendar is live with an incredible lineup of events and live music every weekend through Memorial Day.

We are expecting near perfect weather for Champagne Fest this weekend which will be a celebration across the entire Mountain. Our final Friday Night Lights of the year kicks off the weekend with a heck of a party and a full band at the Alpine Cabin. Get those last uphill laps of the season in, or grab a ride up the triple on foot or with downhill equipment. Everyone is welcome to join, and special $10 pricing applies to all ticket types for this Friday Night Lights Finale, which runs from 5-8 pm, with a banging after party in the base lodge.

Saturday is the day to wear the best ski sweater you can find or borrow. One winner will be awarded a full Black Mountain Season pass for the 26/27 season. I will be DJing from 2-4 pm at the Alpine Cabin with our resident saxophonist. You can bet that some Champagne will be sprayed. Our Champagne pond skim starts at the bottom of the triple at 5 pm. The double is open for skiing and riding till 7.

We have live music all weekend, and the 5-piece E-Block Band will be laying down some smooth evening tunes. Do not miss our Grand Champagne Buffet featuring a carving station, high-end sides, and an incredible charcuterie and dessert spread. Tim O’Sullivan from V***e Clicquot will be curating a champagne tasting on Saturday evening. Sunday is our Champagne Breakfast Brunch buffet, with a make your own mimosa bar served till noon. Next week, we welcome independent ski area operators and owners from around the world to Black Mountain for the Entabeni and Indy Pass annual gathering. We reopen to the public May 2-3 for our Super Hero Hip-Hop weekend.

Extending the season and producing lively events takes an enormous amount of effort from everyone at Black Mountain. It is easy to close and just focus on the bottom line. Being open matters, and I think we have a few more records left to smash.

Thanks for being here.

This wasn’t blow for show. It was a full-on charge with over 50 snowguns blasting the mountain from summit to base. We maxed out the system and made a serious amount of snow on the trails where we will take the last stand. Our main route has base depths that average over 15 feet.

This is already our longest season in 91 years, and the latest that we have ever made snow. We are the last and only open ski area in New Hampshire. As the first ski area in the state to open this season, we can now claim the longest ski season in New Hampshire. Also, a first for the state’s oldest ski area. This little mountain continues to go big and is not backing off.

We are open 7 days a week through Sunday, 4/26, then moving to a Saturday and Sunday operating schedule for as long as possible. The parking lot has been packed with people enjoying spring break groomers, bumps, and vibes. Lift tickets range from $49 to $9, and our “second season” spring event schedule has been released through Memorial Day. It is looking like we have perfect weather all weekend, which features Champagne Fest, a pond skim, and the final Friday Night Lights.

Look for a letter from the GM on Thursday, and find a way to get to Black Mountain and see what everyone is talking about.

It’s 80’s weekend at Black Mountain and the vibe is going to be all-time. We still have a ton of snow with top-to-bottom routes on the East Side, West Side, and down the center on the Black Mountain Glacier. The Summit Double, East Bowl Triple, Platter, and the Handle Tow will all be spinning! The forecast just keeps getting better with Friday / Saturday sunshine, and the rain being pushed to the end of the weekend. Oh, and the best 80’s ski outfit of the weekend gets a free full-access Black 26/27 season pass.

We kick it all off with Friday Night Neon Lights and Cat Rides. Don’t miss the Gully Boys playing live in the base lodge and our full dinner menu and 80’s themed buffet. This is the second-to-last FNL and our last night of snowcat rides to the Alpine Cabin. You have all summer to be lazy, so get out here.

We keep it going all weekend with 80s-themed events. On Saturday, jump into the Maple Slalom Sugar Race at noon on Maple Slalom. It is free, family-friendly, and open to everyone. No preregistration, just show up, race, and try a maple syrup slushie. Then head to the Spread Eagle Contest during the DJ party at the Alpine Cabin, led by our General Manager from 3-5. The double runs to 7 PM on Saturday. Starting at 6 in the base Lodge, 80's cover band Fast Times brings the full 80’s experience with all the hits, wild hair, keytar, and stick twirls you can handle.

We have released our full list of spring events and ticket pricing. Come experience the vibe that everyone is talking about with the lowest prices of the season.
