Here's a lil history of Parallel Fitness.
Parallel Fitness was actually founded by the late JoAnn Purvis Daniels in 2008. JoAnn was so inspired by her 2 sons Richard and Robert Daniels health and fitness ethics, that she asked them to start a small health and fitness program (Ministry)at her church. Unknowingly the program grew and inspired several members to Change their lifestyle by working out a little and changing their eating habits. This program was a blessing to the members. Richard and Robert adapted a training style from Roberts Military career called Circuit Training. It a cycle of a multitude of exercises set up in either a circle or linear formation and you rotate from each station for a predetermined time with short breaks in between. This process allows the heart rate to be elevated and dropped rapidly which allows the body to stay shocked thus causing maximum body fat loss while conditioning and building muscle. JoAnn was very excited and pleased with the program and loved the results of the members. She believed that the body should be a health temple to serve the Lord. If you are not healthy you can't attend church, fellowship and praise the Lord. December 3rd 2008 JoAnn passed and went to be with the Lord. She knew she was ill and was suffering from Hypertension and Pre-diabetes. Her doctor spoke with me afterwards and said that JoAnn was doing better after I had advised her to change her diet and start a lil exercise. JoAnn was very active in her younger years to include her participation in Softball with their team The Lady Hustlers. But with life comes responsibilities, work and the stresses of life. We all have to develop a coping mechanism and maintain our health and fitness.
After JoAnn passed the program ended and the members went back to their old habits. Until one of her sisters Linda and a few other friends and family came to us with their success stories and asked us to start the program again. They said start a fitness facility. We were so not ready for that journey. But we had faith. We started small on a tennis court in Clinton, MS. Where Drill F**T Aerobics was created. We would have 20-35 people training at least 4 days per week. Again we stepped out on faith and opened a small Training Facility in south Jackson. With a small investment we were on a tight budget. Our main goal was to continue Moms dream which was to inspire people to live healthier lifestyles and make healthier eating choices and work out a lil. We believed that this was our Ministry and we wanted these services to be reasonably affordable and be a blessing to the participants. So what does Parallel Fitness mean. Simply 2 lines whether vertical, diagonal or horizontal they are not totally identical their are some differences, flaws, imperfections and minor changes. So look in the mirror and parallel your self. Look deeply see what you like and dislike. Only you can make changes to what you dislike with a little effort, dedication and hard work.
Since 2008 we have grown with the changes. We have inspire hundreds of people even though many do not train with us anymore we have witness numerous testimonies and success stories. That alone is a blessing in itself. Currently Parallel Fitness passion to inspire people by building healthy minds to become healthier people still thrives strong. We ha adapted a motto of We're Not Better, We Just Train Different. Due the fact that we empower people to challenge themselves, think outside the box. To never be normal. To always believe that they can accomplish their goals. We use creativity and innovation to build an environment of fun and effective workout for our participants, which yield success as the final product.
