Advocacy. Education. Trail Maintenance.

Keeping public lands open and accessible for every user group is no small task. It takes collaboration — between riders, hikers, equestrians, land managers, and nonprofits like AMPL working together toward a shared mission.

Your investment makes all of it possible. It keeps our trail crew's shovels in the dirt, our voice in the room during public comment, and our community connected to the places we all love.

There is still time to give through Old Bill's 2026 — every dollar matched, every mile it funds is a trail protected for future generations.

Donate today — Your trails are worth it.

Horses always have right of way on multi-use trails!

At AMPL, we love our local, shared use trail systems. Even on quiet days, we need to keep eyes up, ride in control, and be ready to yield to other users. Encountering a line of horses can be intimidating, but the number one, best thing you can do is communicate. In this situation, we saw the horses from a distance and had just enough room to pull fully off the trail. We calmly talked to the leader of the group and told them that we had 3 riders and were out of the trail.

For young horses, it can be helpful to take off your helmet and talk calmly to let them know you are a human. When in doubt, just ask the horseback rider how they’d best like to proceed with passing one another, and everyone can get right back to their ride!

Not only are we officially welcoming our brand-new Director of Development and Outreach to the crew, but we are also celebrating with a massive gift-in-kind that is FOR SALE right now!

Check out this 2018 Can-Am Maverick X3 XRC featured in the video. It’s an absolute beast, and it’s looking for a new home.

We are so excited to be back on our local, multi-use trails for the summer season. Our crew and volunteers have been out cutting trees, digging drains, installing turnpikes, and prepping for bigger re-route projects for later this summer.

Motorized family, PLEASE remember to buy your OHV before hitting the trails. The dollars we invest in those stickers each season are vital to supporting trail crews across the state, and every dollar goes back to our public lands and access.

The higher elevations are still wet and snowy, so let’s be careful to not damage those trails. But, the weather looks beautiful tomorrow, so get outside and recreate!

It’s trail clearing season! AMPL’s crews have gotten started in both Mosquito Creek and the Big Holes clearing trees after the winter. Programming Coordinator Dash got eyes on Mosquito about ten days ago and did a first pass on clearing. The trail was still quite muddy and the loop not quite passable due to snow but there’s certainly been more melt out since then.
AMPL’s volunteers in Teton Valley have cut out portions of Grove, Drake, Allen, and the Crest. Please be respectful of early season conditions and cautious of hazards in the trails as you start to explore this spring! Can’t wait to see you on the trails!
