ICCS-Southern Ohio Krav Maga is led by Scott King, a Krav Maga 2nd Degree Black Belt, and is available to come to your location for seminars and group training. EDUCATION & LAW ENFORCEMENT
Scott King graduated from Wellston High School in 1981 and in the fall of that same year, he left for Marine Corps Recruit Depot - Parris Island, SC. He served 3 years in the United States Marine Corp, both home
and abroad, before fulfilling his enlistment and being Honorably Discharged in 1984. He returned home to Jackson County (OH) where he began a vibrant career in law enforcement spanning several years at the state and local levels. During his career, King attended courses at the DEA Academy in Quantico, VA and the ATF Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, Glynco, GA. He worked with numerous agencies throughout the central and southern Ohio regions specializing in the oversight and management of Narcotics Task Forces and criminal investigations. In 1999, King was recognized for his criminal investigative achievements and named “Agent of the Year” by the National Drug Enforcement Officers Association. During this time, King also simultaneously attended Ohio University where, in 2001, he graduated “cum laude” with a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice. INTERNATIONAL PRIVATE SECURITY OPERATOR
In 2004, King took his advanced tactical and operational skills and utilized them abroad as an International Private Security Operator. For the next 6 years, King worked in some of the world’s most hostile and dangerous environments to include Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Iraq. before being redeployed back into field operations abroad. In these various roles, King worked on the Private Security Team protecting the U.S. Embassy and staff in Kabul, Afghanistan, was selected by his employer to serve as the Security Operations Manager over one of the world’s most dangerous airports, Baghdad International Airport (Iraq), and eventually rose to the position of Country Operations Manager in Kabul, the highest ranking “boots-on-the-ground” position within his company overseeing their entire commercial and security interests in Afghanistan. In 2010, King returned home to Jackson County, Ohio and settled in where he began a welcome slower-paced, and much less hazardous, career with the City of Jackson, where he is currently employed. SOUTHERN OHIO KRAV MAGA
It was during King’s time on the teams in Afghanistan in 2006 that he was informally introduced to Krav Maga by one of his teammates, a former Special Forces Operator with the United States military. When King was reassigned to Washington D.C. in 2007, he sought opportunity to begin his formal Krav Maga training at KMDC and in March of 2008 he successfully completed his first entry test, Level 1. He earnestly continued his Krav Maga training over the next several years and, after an oftentimes challenging quest, he excelled in his training, testing, and advancement up thru the levels and subsequently in April 2016, he traveled to Las Vegas, NV and passed his arduous examination for Black Belt-2nd Degree. In the Fall of 2016, King and his wife launched “Southern Ohio Krav Maga, LLC” with the intent to educate, train, and empower people to become more skilled at protecting themselves and their loved ones. Their concept was to travel and deliver self-defense training, via seminars, to client locations instead of burdening people to come, often times long distances, to a fixed home-based location to participate. The mobility, accessibility, and quality teaching has exploded Southern Ohio Krav Maga’s popularity and demand. Some of Southern Ohio Krav Maga’s clients include; Holzer Health Systems, Hocking College, University of Rio Grande, and Southern Ohio Medical Center, in addition to many, many other civic groups and private organizations. King has also accepted invitations to lecture on personal safety & security to such organizations as Ohio Homeland Security, various churches, and civic groups like the Rotary Club, and Kiwanis Club to name a few. Always believing that the benefits of personal safety knowledge and skill is empowering, King now realizes that the soaring popularity and demand for Southern Ohio Krav Maga’s training opportunities is a solid reflection for the need to expand the services of Southern Ohio Krav Maga from its current tri-state region of Ohio, West Virginia, and Kentucky, and grow to a national level. Hence, we are excited to be working with host groups to deliver fun, effective, and empowering personal safety/self-defense training to clients at their locations as we open and expand our availability across the United States.
