We are very happy to share with everyone the recent renovations we have completed in Cabin 2 - Coburn. This cabin has been one of our guest’s favorites for years. It is one of our two bedroom lakefront cabins with a large open living space. This spring we set out to do some maintenance in the bathroom. The original plan was replace the surround on the top of the shower, install new flooring, and paint the bathroom.

Every once in a while life throws you a curveball. What was supposed to be a quick and easy project turned into a major overhaul. This is one of the biggest challenges of owning old sporting camps. Once we started looking at the floor in the bathroom, we found that the subfloor underneath was very soft. Upon further inspection we found the issue extended out underneath the bathroom wall. As we got further and further in we decided it was time to give the cabin a significant facelift considering we had to have so much apart anyway.

The subfloor was fixed, the shower was reinstalled, and a new wall was framed for the bathroom. Next we installed new flooring in the kitchen, living room, bathroom, and one of the bedrooms. The old flooring that was there had served its purpose and it was time to be replaced. We went with a high traffic commercial grade flooring in hopes we will get many years of service out of it.

Once the flooring was complete it was time to finish the new wall that was built for the bathroom. anybody that knows us knows drywall is not our thing. Whether it’s painting it, patching it, or installing it, we really don’t like it.😅 With that said we opted to install v-match pine in place of drywall. We would have loved to install v match throughout the cabin like we did in our Attean cabin, but we are already way past when we hoped to have this completed.

We are in the last stages of wrapping this project up. All that’s left now is finishing cleaning up the mess left from construction and installing the new curtains. We are super proud of how this turned out and we can’t wait for our guests to enjoy the cabin for years to come.

Well it only took three years to put up one of the beautiful signs our friend Chuck Baker made for us. Can’t rush into things I guess 😅

Stay tuned because soon we will be unveiling a very exciting renovation to our Coburn Cabin. We just have to button up some finishing touches and give the cabin a thorough cleaning and we will post pictures.

Word from the Border Riders. We will have the south trail and the Rockwood trail open for now. Thank you Border Riders!

Just received the final okay we have been waiting for 🙂

ATV trails will open this Friday, May 22nd. .

South Trail and East Trail toward Rockwood will be open but the Club trail is not open yet.
