The Wushu Club at Cornell is dedicated to promoting, practicing, and performing the sport of Wushu – a contemporary form of traditional Chinese martial arts that emphasizes the aesthetic quality of movements over martial applications. This focus makes Wushu especially appealing to the movie industry: elements of Wushu can be seen in Jet Li films, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, and Avatar: The Last
Airbender. Cornell’s Wushu Club is actively involved in the community by supporting many non-profit and cultural events held throughout the year. Wushu has performed at events like the Mid-Autumn Festival, HOPE Night, Random Acts of Kindness, and the Big Red Showcase. Martial arts students of any discipline or experience level are welcome. Currently, we have members practicing a range of Chinese martial arts, including Northern Shaolin, Kung Fu, Taiji, and Contemporary Wushu. We practice on Mondays in Barton Hall and Fridays in the Basement Classroom of Helen Newman Gym, North Campus. If you have any questions, feel free to contact any of our officers (e-mail addresses located on our website).
