Finger Lakes Jodo-kai Studying classical Japanese combative traditions - Shinto Muso Ryu Jo and ancillary arts. Swordsmanship is also taught as part of this system. Bieri.

We are a group based in Ithaca, New York studying Shinto Muso Ryu Jo - a 400 year old Japanese martial tradition focused on use of the jo, a four foot long staff. This art was studied by feudal-era law enforcement officers in certain parts of Japan. All instruction is provided locally by fully licensed teachers (menkyo kaiden) in this tradition under the direction of Larry E. Also practiced are se

veral auxiliary arts, including those involving use of a walking cane, short police weapons such as the truncheon and iron fan, and kusarigama (sickle and weighted chain).
