Welcome back to those who have recently returned to campus!
We are still awaiting local regulatory guidance to determine when and how recreational squash practice sessions and tournaments can resume.
Currently, student organizations at Cornell University are not permitted to hold "competitions of any kind," "activities that include close or physical contact," or "activities in which equipment [is] shared between members." Those restrictions are expected to remain in effect even after the university's planned reassessment of in-person activities on October 5.
As the World Squash Federation reported, a study from Politecnico di Torino evaluated over 300 different sports for COVID-19 transmission risk and rated squash a 4/4 or "very high risk." That said, the WSF and its national affiliates have begun to develop protocols for resuming court play in phases.
So, stay tuned!
And, in the meantime, we encourage you to post tips and ideas for how to stay active and have fun in this current situation (has anyone tried solo outdoor drills?)
