Established in 2008, the Ithaca League of Women Rollers (ILWR) are a full-contact, women's flat track roller derby league. ILWR is a fully skater-owned and operated non-profit with a mission to provide amateur athletic entertainment to the Finger Lakes Region in upstate New York. A proud apprentice member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA)—the official governing body for modern roller derby. The SufferJets were the first home team created by ILWR, in 2010 the second team called the BlueStockings were introduced.

Yesterday we closed out our season with a double header!! Ithaca and Rochester juniors mixed and played a nailed biting game! (They had an overtime jam due to being perfectly tied at final whistle!) we are so proud of all of our juniors and the amazing season they have had! After such an exciting bout it was time for the adults match- our Grapes of Wrath grapes 🍇 v. The Bad Apples 🍏! It was a close game with several lead changes- but in the end the grapes pulled out the win!

Finally we got to celebrate our very own 🦓 Scruff Canuck’s 400th bout reffed!!! It was such an exciting way to end our home game! With our final home bout in just a few days we want to give another big thank you to one of our sponsors- Sue Sherman-Boyles! We are extremely grateful for her support this season. Had so much fun playing the Black Diamond Rollers Hexecutioners last weekend! Congrats to Elmira for the win! It was our final Bluestockings game of the season and we were happy to play it with some friends! Big shout out to our awesome officials, EMTs, volunteers and fans! Bluestockings MVJ went to Goose Cannon, and MVB went to Reap Havoc (was only their 4th bout!!!). For the Hexecutioners MVJ went to Gnocchi-U-Out, and MVB went to Alley VanSlam! General Hellativity, known in "real life" as David Kornreich, started with our league just learning to skate upright and in the ref lane. He spent more than a decade teaching countless referees, NSOs and skaters the intricate rules of roller derby, often with a GoPro mounted on his helmet.

Dave could be counted on as a voice of reason, and a reliable and committed volunteer. He served on ILWR's Board of Directors and was one of a handful of people who helped rebuild the league after COVID, ripping out the remnants of an abandoned Old Navy alongside skaters to help turn it into our home for the next few years.

We are devastated by his loss, and our thoughts are with his wife and family. Thank you for helping make derby happen, Dave.

We are in need of medical staff from 5:30-8pm for our August 29th doubleheader THIS SATURDAY!!!

If you or someone you know has ANY of the below qualifications please DM us or email us at [email protected]:

- Certified First Responders (FRs), Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs), or Paramedics

- Physician with sports medicine, orthopedic, and/or emergency medical experience
Athletic trainer with CPR training

- Licensed Practical or Registered Nurse with current CPR training and sports medicine. orthopedic, and/or emergency experience

- Nurse Practitioner or Physician’s Assistant with current CPR and sports medicine, orthopedic. and/or emergency experience

In the final games of the season, the Ithaca League of Junior Rollers skate into the weekend! 🛼Then the Home Teams go head to head on Saturday, September 12th at Cass Park Rink!

Juniors Game - 4 PM
Adults Game - 6 PM

Ticket Donations 🎟️
Adults - $10
Kids (6-12) - $5
Kids 5 & under - FREE

The bout will be held at Cass Park Rink. To keep our skaters and community safe we ask people to use their best judgement, and suggest folks wear masks if unvaccinated and not attend if they have any symptoms of Covid-1

Some of our skaters and officials headed to Ohio for Summer Affair this past weekend! It was a fun weekend to learn new skills, improve on others, and meet other derby lovers! Shout out to Cleveland Guardians for hosting a great weekend and Samantha Strong for some great photos! Hope to see you all next year!
