MEDAL RECYCLING AT LAKE WASHINGTON HALF!

We’re adding something new to our Zero Waste tent at the Lake Washington Half, and we’re hoping you like this idea! If you’ve got a drawer full of old medals that you’re no longer displaying, remove the ribbons and bring them to our Zero Waste tent. One of our ambassadors will be collecting them and taking them to a metal recycling facility. These medals can soon become the I beams supporting buildings, car frames, and even road reinforcement. Now when you’re stuck in the traffic from the Revive I-5 construction, you can think, “Wow, I helped make that happen.” 😅

We’re giving this a test run at the Lake Washington Half, so if you’re coming on race day and have any medals you’d like to offload, bring them. We’d love to get a sense of whether this would help make a positive impact. 🫶

PUMPKIN SPICE RUN ✅

This race is just a little bit different from our usual events, and goodness it is so fun to see so many folks embracing our fall festival finish line vibes! Thank you to all of the runners who came out to our pumpkin patch, enjoyed their PSL, and ran through Seward Park to celebrate everything we love about this season!

We had so many volunteers who went above and beyond yesterday, and we know we couldn’t out these events in without your help! 🫶

To our coffee stands, Bean Hut Espresso - Amanda, Filter & Shot Coffee, and U Cafe Coffee Cart - Seattle Mobile Coffee Cart, thank you for making SO MANY fall beverages for our runners for hours, yesterday! You all put the Pumpkin Spice in the Pumpkin Spice Run!

Shout out to Perfectly Porched for sponsoring the pumpkin decorating booth, which was a HUGE hit for humans of all ages! Your pumpkin arch was an absolute vision and a testament to your gourd-geous talents. 🎃

To our friends at Safe Crossings Foundation, thank you for volunteering at the outdoor games! It was so fun to see folks bowling with pumpkins. 😂

Remember all of those times that you’ve said “wow I love those hoodies! Where can I get one?” THE TIME IS NOW!

We teamed up with our friends at Squak (a family-owned PNW gear company) to put the Orca Running logo on their best-selling grid fleece in Bullitt Blue, a shade somewhere between Puget Sound on a good day and the inside of a glacier. 

Here’s what you get when you purchase one:

• Mid-weight polyester grid fleece: warm, breathable, moisture-wicking, and stretchy enough for actual running when it’s MEGA-COLD.

• Adjustable hood for when the sideways drizzle shows up or you need to hide your face.

• Thumbholes to seal in warmth and keep your sleeves where they belong. Attached.

• A big kangaroo pocket for gloves, gels, car keys, or that extra packet of poptarts.

• Orca Running logo on the chest, so that the guy behind the counter at the oil change place knows that you’re a runner.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED 10/17!

We’ve got a few open volunteer spots at the upcoming Lake Washington Half on October 17th, and we’d love to have your help making sure this race goes off without a hitch!

Volunteers get 50% off OR a code for a free race (depending on the length of their volunteer shift), and we like to think it’s a pretty fun way to spend a Saturday morning. 🫶

We need:
📦 Thursday packet pickup at REI Bellevue (2-6pm)
🦺 course monitors (7:30-9:30am)
💦 aid station vollies (7:45-10:15am)
⛺️ charity bib participant support (8am-noon)
🚲 bike lead (8:00-9:30am)

ORCA RUNNING 2027 REGISTRATION OPENS MONDAY! Set your alarms for 6am, because the prices (and discounts) we’re offering on reg day won’t be beat, and the best deals will start early! CAPTAIN JACK’S TREASURE RUN RACE TEE REVEAL

If you’ve been waiting for your chance to run in costume, we’ve got just the race for you: Captain Jack’s Treasure Run on Sunday, October 25th! Runners pick from a 5k, 8k, or 12k, and cruise along the Sammamish River Trail to a finish line filled with fun! We’ve got a kids race, trunk or treating, and a really fun way to celebrate Halloween with hundreds of your best running friends. 🫶 Check out the photos from past races for some costume inspiration, and we’ll see you in Redmond on the 25th!
