It's time to go. It's time to go. Shoes on. Let's go.
Said it once, twice, three, and four times!
Then you snap!

The shoes are still not on and your little one is not ready.
Now instead of the shoes being put on and you leaving you suddenly are in the center of a gale-force temper tantrum. Now you are getting angrier because you know you will be late.

The tantrum has already started so what do you do now?

👉Give a hug. No that makes it worse
👉Say forget it and carry them out the door? No that makes it worse
👉Put the shoes on yourself? No that makes it worse
You find yourself thinking I have used everything I can think of, nothing seems to work.

🤯Imagine having strategies to use right at that moment before you lose it.
🤯Strategies to help your little one calm down and ways for you to respond.
Even better, ways to prevent this tantrum from happening tomorrow!

What would it mean to you to be able to help your little one through that frustrating moment and have connection with them as well?

This is possible. 🤯

Join my free workshop so you can learn ways to tame those frustrating moments and help with big behaviors. This is the first time this year I am doing a free workshop!

Starts Oct 24th at 10am EST right here in the group.
3 day workshop!

You think it’s easier to say yes

You are food shopping and checking off your list. Trying to stay on track. Then your little one sees the candy section and screams for a candy bar. You say no but the crying gets louder. You say no again but then say YES.

In the moment of screaming and crying you give in and say yes.
In the moment it’s easier.

🤯The problem isn’t in this moment.
🤯It’s in what happens next time you come to the store.
🤯The problem is next time you say no.

The tantrum will be bigger and louder and last longer.

😞Your little one now expects the candy at the store.
😞Your little one now doesn’t believe you when you say no.
😞Your little one has learned they can cry and get what they want.
😞Your little one now has learned you don’t mean what you say.
These are lasting lessons. Lessons that you didn’t mean to teach but did. Things that will be very hard to break.

🛑 you can stop this cycle by knowing how to change your words and how to set expectations when going into stores.
Would you like to know what to do instead of a time out, or caving in?

✨Are you ready to get strategies to help handle big behaviors and frustrating moments? Are you upset that the time-outs aren't working and don't know what to do instead? I encourage you to join the Tame Tantrums workshop on Oct 24th 10am EST. Three day workshop. ✨ join Explore Kid Talk -Parenting Support Center

I did so much research!

The research left me feeling overwhelmed and lost.

My friends said to do this, books said this, and mom groups judge me.
Why was it too early to go to the crib? Why was I being judged instead of helped?

I felt like I didn't know what else to do or everything I was doing was wrong.

Then I decided to work with Rachel and get personal strategies and support.

“Having someone that is not in your everyday life that you can talk to and be objective is huge. This has been life-changing for how I parent and my connection with my little one.”

😲I was being supported as a parent.
😲It gave me the confidence to make decisions about everyday moments.
😲It's helped me to not cave in and be consistent.
😲I now have peace of mind knowing I can ask about any parenting situation and not be judged.

💚 My feelings are heard and validated.
💚 I get strategies that work for my child in my home.
💚 I learned realistic developmental needs of my child and what to expect.

I no longer feel alone and now have a better connection with my child. I have someone walking side by side with me.
If you are ready to confidently handle parenting challenges and be the happiest version of yourself, I encourage you to message me today to discuss working together.

Time out mistakes and how to fix them

🛑

Your friend recommended them, moms group says to do it, but every time YOU use a time-out it sends your child into a tornado of epic proportions.

The time-out results in huge anger fits.

Parents use time-out to help their child calm down but instead increase the tantrum and the behaviors. Even after the time-out ends the child continues the behaviors.

"Timeouts in a chair in a different room don’t seem to be helping. I don't know what to do."

Are you using a time-out to teach a lesson?

I'm going to tell you something that might upset you.

Time-outs do not teach kids anything. Yup, I said it. 🤯

Instead, they are being removed and it's a punishment, not a lesson.

Time-outs don't stop the frustrating behaviors because they are being removed and it doesn't help teach them to understand "why." If it does help curb the behaviors it's only for a moment out of fear.

The idea of having a child calm down is good but not this way.

Would you like to know what to do instead of a time out, or how to change your language around?

Want your little one to feel smarter?
Have routines in place.
I bet you didn't know that was what I was going to say. Children, especially infants and toddlers need routines. Having predictable routines is a very important part of learning.
As adults, our lives are filled with routines that we may not even realize. The time you get off work, going home the same way, stopping at the same gas station before you arrive home.
By knowing what will happen next they begin to expect and anticipate things. They are no longer surprised when it's time to eat, play, or sleep. They have a predictable day which leads to less anxiety and a feeling of being safe.

Summertime routines are important with changes in schedules, days are longer, and nights are harder too.
I can bet that you have so much going on that you want a routine but don't know where to start. Do you want help finding a routine that works for your family and sticking with it? Let's have a chat where we can come up with a plan that's best for you and your family. Message me to discuss how the 90 min parenting support session would work for you.

Limit Sensory Overload in the summer

Summer can be wonderful or can cause lots of overload! The hot sun, the heat, swimming, traveling, routines broken.

If your little one is sensory to materials try these tips:

☀️Have materials to limit exposure. (goggles, sunglasses, hats, umbrella, beach or water shoes)
☀️Have a daily quiet time with no noisy activities
☀️Keep clothing loose and comfortable

✨Want to learn how to discipline in a way that WORKS year-round, and have them listen? Struggling with tantrums and power struggles? Message me to discuss what working together would do for your family.

Here is what some of the parents are saying about the review packet.

"I have 2 of my youngest in 2nd Grade, one is in STEM and the other is ADD. This packet was perfect for both of my boys to review it helped me engage in the topics at length. My son in STEM said he enjoyed the map part the best. My other son who is ADD said that the senses and the writing prompt were the best, This packet really help to show the weaknesses he had so we can work on them.

I can say that we really enjoyed going over this packet, and would love to use it to review before 3rd grade during the summer. I would recommend any parent who has children in 1st grade to use this packet to show what 2nd grade looks like, I believe it would help!"
