VAST - Vermont Association of Snow Travelers E-Blast announcement 📣
This year’s Annual Meeting will be held on Saturday, August 29th, hosted by Orleans County. It will be an action-packed day as we come together to celebrate the accomplishments of our clubs and volunteers, recognize this year’s award recipients, recap the past season, and look ahead to the upcoming snowmobile season.

In addition to the annual updates and celebrations, the VAST membership will also hold elections for the Association’s officer positions.

The Nominating Committee has received confirmation that the following current officers intend to seek re-election:

• Patty Companik – President

• Mark Reaves – Vice President

• Steve Conte – Treasurer

Current Secretary Ruth Halpin has announced she will not be seeking re-election. We thank Ruth for her dedication and service to VAST and the snowmobiling community.

If you are interested in serving as a VAST Officer and would like to be included in the candidate announcement shared with the membership, please submit your candidate write-up to Amber Stevens, Nominating Committee Chair, by July 20.

Interested candidates are welcome for any officer position — whether for an open position or a position where a current officer is seeking re-election. All submitted candidate information will be included in a future e-news communication to the membership following the submission deadline.

As always, nominations may also be made from the floor during the Annual Meeting in accordance with the election process. This advance announcement opportunity is provided for individuals who would like to share their intent to run and provide information about themselves to the membership prior to the meeting.

The Annual Meeting is an important opportunity for members to participate, stay informed, and help guide the future of VAST.

Orleans County is also planning additional activities after the Annual Meeting concludes — so stay tuned for more details!

We look forward to seeing everyone on August 29th as we celebrate our volunteers, our clubs, and another year of Vermont snowmobiling.

⚠️Storm Damage Again!⚠️ 6/20/26 - Trailmaster Mark had originally planned to spend his Saturday checking the 111s for a future trail project, but the heavy rain over the last two days made him shift his focus to storm damage assessment. He checked Trail 111 from EX26 to the OS61 Drift Dusters Snowmobile Club hand off. There was minor damage near the EX243 2001c intersection and along the section in Bill Sladyk WMA. He found some significant wash outs EX29 with intermittent culvert damage. There is a bridge dislodged with a significant washout between EX261 and EX262 that was notified to the club as well by a club member.
Club President Chris R said "the Good news is we have the resources and the team just need to know how many projects we have 🫣."
Mark said he will continue to check more trails and bridges in the coming days. We guess this is Welcome to Summer! Shorter days starting Monday and we got more work to do.
