It was a blur and the dust has hardly settled but I am incredibly happy with how weekend went.
I had no idea how the new routes would be received, the venue would play out, and the vision of the "event"would actually go down. To watch it unfold and receive all the positive comments made all the work worth it.
CAMP π - Seeing the entire perimeter of the event site parking lot filled with vans, tents, and camper rigs was super fun. With not a business, commercial site, or sponsor banner to be seen, which was all very intentional and brought up to me by others as a nice thing, it was just like a bunch of like minded people gathered together to hang in the woods. This was both very welcoming and non intimidating.
RIDE π²- There was a common theme said, with a very big smile,"it was a bit more then I expected" and "maybe I should have had bigger tires", which was always followed by "that was an incredible course and I can't wait to come back". There was some joking going around about "ungravel"...
COOK π₯ - This exceeded my expectations. The fully loaded potatoe bar went over well, was delicious, and brought everyone together to chat about the day.
The COOK-OFF went over so well we are going to need to give this some more thought for next year. Everyone that stepped up, entered a plate, and brought some food to share with others was brave and kind.
This was an event with a bike ride.
This was grassroots. It was a heck of a weekend!
This was just like a reunion, the Gravel Reunion.
Thank you to the participants, volunteers, my Lady, and our public lands for helping make my vision become a reality. I am grateul π.
Having minimal to no cell service at the site was a good thing. So, more to follow...
Hey participants, If you have any photos I would love to see and share some???!!! Share to me directly and/or post and tag Gravel Pursuit and/or me. TY.
