About this fly….october 1992, jay buhner and I ventured out of county dock, each, in our wrap around insul-dri tubes, beautiful day, a little breeze.
Intermediate sinking lines, getting a few grabs on a Halloween, so many in fact, we hadn’t noticed the black clouds coming in from Reynolds’s Pass. Five minutes into kicking our fins like a mark spitz Olympian, we knew we were S.O.L. We were never going to make it back to the dock.
As the dominant wind changed, now coming from the centennials, we decided, or the weather decided, we were going to end up somewhere on the north shore, and we just as well fish while being blown over that way.
Our intermediate line wasn’t getting the fly deep enuf, I had some 64 oz. jigs, so we lengthened our leaders and each tied on two jigs, and the next hour was pure big fish narvana! We battled the winds promising not to let each other out of sight! It was fish on till we landed on shore over by Pittsburg creek.
We gave each other a big hug w/grins ear to ear! Thankful someone was looking out for us that day!

Long story short, be safe, be smart & tie on some jig flies!😁😜😄

Happy New Year friends of Henry’s Lake!

I’ve been busy tying flies to donate to the Henrys Lake Foundation, FTF, FUNdraiser! June 19th, 4 person scramble at the Island Park Golf Course

The HLF is undertaking many projects to protect our incredible lake, a lake like no other! One of our goals is to increase the survival rate of Hybrids, partnered with the IDFG & Blue Mountain Hatchery, by increasing the size of fish released in the lake. Hence, our FTF, (feed the fish) FUNdraiser! $300 entry fee to Henrys Lake Foundation for a 4 person team.

We welcome donations to utilize for prizes, raffle and auctions! All $ go to FTF!
