LEAGUE AND REGISTRATION
1 session of play – season begins in late-May and runs through early-September
Games played on Friday evenings.
11 weeks – 8 regular season games, 3 weeks of playoffs (all teams make playoffs)
$350 league fee + $10 per week/per team ref fee, paid directly to refs

eam captain is responsible for paying entirety of league fee ($350)
No partial payments will be accepted to the league. Each team is expected to make their own agreements on how to split this fee. The league is not responsible to enforce this agreement or handle disputes amongst a team. No outside food or drinks (except water) will be allowed on the beach. No alcohol is allowed on the beach, except in area designated by the Beach Club. All rules of the Sunset Bay Beach Club and Sunset Bay Beach must be followed. League rules are subject to change at administrators discretion. CANCELLATIONS & FORFEITS
PLAN TO PLAY RAIN OR SHINE, WARM OR COLD! THE ONLY TIME WE CANCEL IS FOR THUNDER AND LIGHTNING OR THE RARE OCCASION THAT THE COURTS ARE FLOODED. ALL CAPTAINS WILL BE NOTIFIED AS SOON AS WE DECIDE OF A CANCELLATION. WE WILL ALSO POST THE INFO TO OUR FACEBOOK PAGE
All teams must give 72 hours’ notice of cancellation prior to scheduled game time. Captains are responsible for making sure their team is aware of their game times. If notice is given within 72 hours, league management will attempt to reschedule, but no guarantees. If notice is not given within 72 hours your team will forfeit all wins to opponents. No make-up game will be rescheduled. Forfeit team is responsible to pay both team’s ref fees before their next game ($20)
Games will start promptly at scheduled time. Teams should be on the court and ready to play at start time. Teams are encouraged to be early to warm up. Games will be forfeited 15 minutes after scheduled start time. If a team forfeits more than 1 game during the season, league management will review reasons for the pattern. If reasons are inconsistent with the best interest of the league, said team faces potential expulsion. All paid funds are forfeited and will not be refunded. No refunds will be given for any reason unless the league is cancelled. RULES OF PLAY
Matches are played in a best of 3 format. First two games will be to 21, win by 2, capped at 30. Game 3 tie breaker will be to 15, win by 2, capped at 21. Playoff games have same format, but no caps. Referee will flip coin at beginning of game, winner will choose side or serve. Game 3 tie breaker will have a new coin flip. Winner will choose side or serve. Rules are similar to high school volleyball. Let serves are legal (ball hits the net and rolls over to opponents side)
No blocking or attacking serve
Net violations of any kind are illegal. You may go under the net during play, but cannot make contact with opposition players. (safety is first priority)

Open hand receiving of serves or first ball is legal. Kicking is legal. Back row attacks are allowed. Ten foot line will be enforced at ref’s discretion. In game substitutions are allowed, but a substituted player must play a full rotation. (no back row or front row specialists)
Each team has one 30 second timeout per game (3 per match). Any rules not mentioned here will be called at the ref’s discretion, then reviewed by league administrators. All calls made by the referee are final. Mistreatment of referees will not be tolerated and can lead to a team’s expulsion from the league if there are persistent conduct issues. There will be no refund given to any team removed due to conduct. TEAM ROSTER REQUIREMENTS
6-person, 18+, coed league. Each team must have at least 2 women on their roster, no maximum. If a team is short on 1 or 2 women, they must play shorthanded or forfeit the game. Teams may have up to 12 players on their roster. Players must be 18 or older. Each player must register and accept waiver. No waiver = no play. Only rostered players will be eligible for playoffs. Each player must have played in at least 3 regular season games to be eligible for playoffs (no ringers).
