5Rhythms with Jenelle Smith A native of Southern California, I love all the terrain we have; mountains, beach, freeways. Come back to your moving center, your feet and your breath!

Created by Gabrielle Roth and practiced by tens of thousands worldwide, 5Rhythms® is a philosophy, perspective, performance art and dynamic movement practice rooted in the principle that if you put the psyche in motion it will heal itself. I grew up youngest of nine, have faced loss, addiction and understand first-hand that the cracks let the light in. 5Rhythms has been my practice most of my life

and I am honored to share it with you. Practicing an embodied meditation practice gives us quick access to our life force, no matter what is happening on the outside.

We dance to remember. Remember who we are, remember our ancestors, and this weekend of course we remember service members who gave the ultimate sacrifice. I was in DC three years ago on Memorial Weekend and found myself in tears pretty regularly. The Vietnam Memorial by Maya Lin struck me to my core. May we continue to practice inviting vibrancy and authenticity! See you tomorrow

Join me tomorrow for our weekly fine-tuning for self-care. So much of my life I’ve played the rebel against the part of me that is nurturing, and it often led me to a place that didn’t feel free. Gratefully, I’ve come to see how loving it can be to commit to healthy habits. For me it’s progress, not perfection! Looking forward to being with you all tomorrow :)

Tomorrow we move together, shake things up, give the body an outlet to let go of tension and give expression to what is present. Dance improves mental health by releasing endorphins and dopamine, reducing stress hormones like cortisol, and fostering social connection. See you on the dance floor!
