DragonFlite 95 Race Points Results – May 9 ⛵

We are truly spoiled by the superb Southern California weather and the 9-acre lake in Irvine at Mason Park, where the Orange County Model Sailing Club has called home for over 40 years. Yesterday was a perfect example of why we love this sport—pleasant, spirited racing and great camaraderie.

THE HIGHLIGHTS:

Stephan Cohen was on fire, taking first in seven heats and breezing to an overall regatta win. Len Bose secured a solid second, replicating his recent performance at the Sacramento R8 Travel Trophy. (Is this a trend?) Mike Crider, our quietest skipper, sailed his way into third. Gene Elliot, aka "Dr. Nice Guy," took fourth. "Shoe" rounded out the top five—not too shabby for an 83-year-old!

The 50-in RC scale model of the 27-ft Skipjack "Coot" built from scaled plans of the original Schooner, is shown sailing in a gentle breeze at Mason Park, Irvine, CA. It was expertly built, circa mid-1990s, by Harry Bourgeois with Swede Johnson guidance and sails. It has new electronics including a ServoCity gearbox arm winch and rudder servo. It will soon be available for sale and pickup in Southern, California. Send message if interested.
