Matthew organized a very successful work bee today processing 455 bundles of kindling for the rustic cabins….bundled and ready for fall/winter. 13 volunteers showed up and worked for 2 hours and enjoyed a cook out at noon. Thank you Matthew and all the volunteers that made this happen.

With heavy hearts that Kelsey and I, Matthew, announce that we will not be continuing with ABR into the 26/27 ski season. This next season of life is taking us to our hometown of Rhinelander. My family is currently facing some health concerns, and we feel this is where we are needed most.

Kelsey and I were honored to be welcomed by all of you as we jumped into our roles at ABR. Managing the ABR Trails Foundation has been a challenge and a joy, and we have loved being here. What we loved most was meeting, serving, and getting to know each of you. The ski community, the people that call ABR home, are the heart of this place. We will treasure the deep conversations, laughter, and time that many of you invested back into us. Thank you for welcoming us into your community so well. Additionally, a big thank you to the board, staff, and volunteers for your countless hours helping us maintain both operations and smiling skier faces. We hope to see you on the trails in the coming winter seasons and beyond. Happy trails!

Matthew Shruck, Operations Manager

-------

We are so sorry to see Matthew and Kelsey go, but we are over-the-top thankful for all that they did. They truly achieved a grand slam home run for us in our first year of existence! Learning everything about a 30-year business operation in such a short time was nothing less than miraculous. They learned everything - including our new lodging and point of sale system and just everything - all with apparent ease. And they had the energy to greet our skiers with smiles and warmth as they walked in the chalet, building friends along the way, making it feel like the old ABR we have learned to love. My favorite memory was Matthew getting the trails ready after a late-fall once in a generation snowstorm that toppled kilometer upon kilometer of brush over the trail; getting out there, calling in our youth skiers, organizing work bees, getting it done. And Kelsey’s always contagious laugh and smile! For all of that and so much more, and on behalf of our entire skiing community, thanks so much to Matthew and Kelsey. You will be remembered in ABR lore.

All the best, we will miss you!
