Automotive students with energy and the ability to share their thoughts won cash because they saw an opportunity to communicate and learn at Riverchase Career Connection Center in Hoover Alabama. Some of Ricky Newton‘s students are going to have careers as an auto technician.
They only know what they know, so I shared my perspective on learning… at any age and the importance to write out their 1 and 5 year plans.
At the Racetrack, you gotta have a target while the front wheel is in the air and you’re trying to go straight at 200mph, same thing to do while in school… identify your target. NHRA ASE Connects Texas Capital Air Show

I was asked to present on how engineering is a vital part and career in Motorsports. Four classes totaling over 200 students with professor Wallace at the University of Alabama Birmingham.  It’s fun to promote the 75th anniversary of drag racing in such a unique landscape.

Steve visited the World of Wheels Auto Show on Friday morning to speak to hundreds of students from automotive trade schools across the Birmingham region. He shared real-world insight on career opportunities, chasing dreams, and applying for his BAT-Man Scholarship, which awards over $5k in tools to aspiring technicians. 💥 He grabbed everyone’s attention right out of the gate by handing $100 to the first student who jumped up to answer his opening question. 💵

After the talk, Steve and the students hit the show floor to take it all in—classics, supercars, muscle cars, motorcycles, and the incredible work of some of the industry’s top custom builders, like Thomas Performance Engineering.
