I was asked to present on how engineering is a vital part and career in Motorsports. Four classes totaling over 200 students with professor Wallace at the University of Alabama Birmingham. It’s fun to promote the 75th anniversary of drag racing in such a unique landscape.

It seems like many of the riders/drivers don’t have to worry about weight and diets. I know some do. any ideas on how to lose 10 pounds in a week?

Steve visited the World of Wheels Auto Show on Friday morning to speak to hundreds of students from automotive trade schools across the Birmingham region. He shared real-world insight on career opportunities, chasing dreams, and applying for his BAT-Man Scholarship, which awards over $5k in tools to aspiring technicians. 💥 He grabbed everyone’s attention right out of the gate by handing $100 to the first student who jumped up to answer his opening question. 💵

After the talk, Steve and the students hit the show floor to take it all in—classics, supercars, muscle cars, motorcycles, and the incredible work of some of the industry’s top custom builders, like Thomas Performance Engineering.

🔥 The show is open all weekend at the Birmingham–Jefferson Convention Center. Stop by, check it out, and ignite your passion for the “world of wheels.”

Steve crossed his milestone 65th birthday just as he prepares to enter his 40th consecutive season of NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle racing. 🎂🏍️

We marked the moment with a staycation in Anniston, Alabama— enjoying local restaurants, staying in a home dating back to 1888, and even visiting the world’s largest office chair.🪑On the way home, we made a special stop to visit a friend’s private collection, which includes one of Steve’s bikes along with several meaningful mementos from his racing journey.

In a weekend that also marked Dr. King’s birthday, we reflected on the stories of the Freedom Riders who survived a pivotal chapter of their journey in Anniston, in the year that Steve was born.

On his actual birthday, it was back home at SJR, doing what we love most: working on our engines. We wrapped the day with homemade stir-fry (extra broccoli 🥦), birthday cake, and even Ruff the rabbit got a bite.🐰🍓

Santa got tired of cookies and crashed into our tree when he heard we had broccoli… 🥦 Can you see it? Thank you for all my blessings.

🎥 A 4-minute watch that captures so much…

Steve delivered a powerful commencement message at WyoTech- Laramie, reminding graduates that at WyoTech, you don’t just learn a trade — you forge a future.

🏁 Drawing from lessons learned over a 40-year racing career, Steve encouraged students to seize opportunities, stay hungry to learn, and keep chasing their passion as they launch into the workforce.

🎓 Steve also awarded two BAT-man “Be a Technician” Scholarships to Bennett Fischer and Kaiden Kirby — the first time scholarships have ever been presented during graduation. Each recipient received Snap-on Tools and a tool cart valued at over $5,000, plus a $1,500 bonus from PEAK Auto to invest in tools for their specialty. 👏Finalists Travis Justice and Adriana Varela were also recognized and received tools for their strong efforts in the application process. 🔧

WyoTech truly is a one-of-a-kind institution — America’s destination trade school — shaping the next generation of technicians and leaders. We’re so proud of every graduate for reaching this milestone and stepping into their career paths… many already wearing red stoles symbolic of jobs lined up and ready to go! ❤️

As we close out another unforgettable NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle season, we want to extend a huge THANK YOU to the incredible friends who kept this team rolling. Jock, Chris, Tony, Tommy, Robby, Jimmy, Jeff, Rusty, Mike, Bryon, Randy, Jason, Tim, Joe, Eddie, Bruce… and so many others who turned wrenches, shared wisdom, put in miles, and believed in SJR.

This year came with its highs and lows, no doubt about it. But if the Countdown showed us anything, it’s that we were finding something. And that something has us motivated and already pushing hard towards what comes next.

And what comes next is BIG.
🔥 2026 marks 75 years of the NHRA.
🔥 And 40 years of Steve Johnson Racing.
We’ve been doing this a long time, but trust us— Steve’s not done yet, and we’re committed to honoring those milestones with performance.

A huge congratulations to a very deserving champion, Richard Gadson. His hard work, consistency, and pursuit of a dream paid off in a big way. The NHRA banquet was the perfect reminder of why we love this sport and our class— the passion, the competition, and the people who push each other to be better. 🏆

Thank you fans, partners, and everyone who makes this non-stop chase of going faster worth it. See you at the Gators!
