The beautiful weather has allowed me to get in almost all of the footing upgrades I have been planning for a while. I now have the geogrid and gravel placed in front of my barn and the main loafing shed. NO MORE MUD!!!!! Two pasture gates have also been treated with a couple more to go. One fence line has been upgraded to corral panels and a new gate. I never posted pictures of the dressage arena, but that was ready to go in July. I'll be taking the letters in soon so that the snow doesn't bury them. I've built 4 new cavalletti and they will go to the farm as soon as they are painted. I will post more pictures soon. I still have 2-3 spots open for the winter with 2-4 horses in a pasture. Top quality care and I am constantly adding upgrading and adding features. Rough board includes hay, salt licks, heated water in winter, fans in the summer, and 20 acres to ride on. Close to gravel roads and 10 minutes to miles and miles of logging roads and trails. $275 a month and $30 extra if you would like owner supplied grain fed 2x a day. Lessons and training available with top FEI dressage trainer in all disciplines. All disciplines and retired horses are welcome. Family and horse friendly with professional care.

I have 2-3 spots currently open for pasture board. Each pasture has only 2-3 horses. Sheds have fans for the summer and vinyl strip curtains for the winter. Excellent quality hay and water troughs are cleaned weekly in the summer and heated in the winter. More pastures will be developed next summer, but I will have no more than 10 boarders. 20 acres to ride on with large outdoor dressage arena, jump field, and open fields to ride in. A small cross country jump course is planned for next summer. Miles of dirt roads accessible right from the farm and a 15-minute trailer ride to hundreds of acres of sand trails. An indoor arena is available just 3 miles away for a small usage fee and I hope to have an indoor next summer if I have enough boarders. I am a former Tempel Lipizzan FEI dressage and jump trainer with over 50 years of experience and offer top quality care, training, and lessons. Family friendly and all disciplines are welcome! Board is currently $275 plus $30 if you want me to feed owner supplied grain. If you move in before the indoor goes up, you will not have a rate increase for one year! The farm is located just 5 miles from Iron River, WI and the Bayfiels Co. Fairgrounds. Message for more details.

Another picture of Scarlett Rooney's ribbon haul from the NWDA show this past weekend. It's obvious that Cali is quite pleased with herself! It wouldn't have been possible without this lovely diva, and she wanted everyone to know it. She says to keep the carrots coming and stand by for next year...... ❤️

We had a great time at the NWDA Fall Classic Schooling show. I brought my OTTB, Money Talker, just for experience as he hasn't been anywhere since he retired from his very long and successful racing career, and my student Scarlett Rooney brought her lovely Hanoverian mare, California 92 to her first show since they became partners. Scarlett and California rose to the occasion and placed well in every class they competed in. I was thrilled with her dressage scores in particular as she received over 65% and 69% in their Intro classes along with excellent comments from the judge. They have been working hard this summer, and I was so happy to see them rewarded for their efforts. I am so proud of them! As always, the show was well run, fun to attend, and best of all the Bayfield Co Fairgrounds are a mere 5 miles from Artesian Farm. It is so nice to show so close to home for once! Scarlett and Cali are pictured below.

Things have certainly dried up at the farm and I hope to start working on the mud control soon. I can't wait! Next spring, no mud at the gates or in front of the shelters. I also have a few boarding spots opening up for June and July. Only 2-3 horses per pasture, so group sizes are small and if you have several horses, you can have a private pasture. For the right person with horse care experience, there is a possibility to work off some of your board. I will be fencing off some more paddocks when the grass has had a chance to come in and time allows. A dry lot can be made available if your horse cannot be on grass. Outdoor grass arena, jump field, and round pen. Quality round bales of hay and owner supplied grain can be fed for an additional charge. Rough board is $275 and $35 extra to feed grain. Boaders may use our farrier and vet or bring your own. Lessons and training available with FEI dressage and jump trainer in all disciplines.

OMG. Where do I start. I got an emergency call from a fellow horse friend telling me that there was a fire just west of my horse farm and she thought it went onto my property. I immediately booked it out to my car and raced to my farm. Less than 2 miles from my house, a deer jumped up out of a ditch and I hit it broadside. I couldn't stop, as I was terrified for the horses. But it didn't do my beloved Explorer any good and the deer didn't make it either. I'm beside myself with sorrow at hitting the deer and terrified for the horses. The road past my farm was blocked off and they wouldn't let me drive down my long driveway so I parked in the shade on the shoulder of the road and put the windows down for my GSD. Then I ran down the 1200 ft driveway past the deep ditches that the FD had dug to contain the fire and protect the horses and buildings. The horses were all ok and amazingly, just grazing. I ran across the fields to where a volunteer fire fighter was hosing down some burning brush. They had most of the fire contained and had done an absolutely amazing job. The entire field, bout 15 acres, up to where the neighbor's RV was parked was burned to a crisp. As was a fair chunk of my pastures and my perimeter fence post bases. The FD had dug deep double ditches that went for hundreds of yards, and they had to cut my perimeter fence in several places in order to move the heavy machinery to fight the fire. Again, I can't thank them enough for the amazing work they did and I am so grateful to our amazing fire fighters, all of whom are volunteers. They train hard and are extremely knowledgeable. We couldn't survive up here without them. I can't say the same about my idiot neighbor however. I have no idea what possessed him to start a fire while the entire area is under a Do NOT burn, Red Flag Warning, let alone on a day with no humidity and extremely high winds. Especially as there was another fire just yesterday about 5 miles away for the same reason. He could easily have burned my barns and sheds down and killed my boarders' horses and mine. Now, I have pastures with huge ditches in them, burned pasture, cut fences that must be replaced, I killed a deer which will haunt me for a long time, and my beloved car is not looking too good. To say I did not need this trauma on top of everything else I have survived is putting it mildly. 🥲😡💔

Spring is coming and I hope to be able to put in the new grids for mud control that I purchased last fall. If this system works well where I am going to try it out, then I will gradually add more and hopefully solve the mud issues in front of the run-in sheds and gates. I will be fencing in a bit more pasture this summer, as well. However, I will limit the number of horses on the property, as I want to provide quality care. I still have room for 2-3 more horses in May. I also plan on adding new footing to the outdoor arena and will build a small x-country course around the farm just for fun. This time of year is so dreary on a farm, so it is nice to picture the improvements I hope to work on when the weather breaks!

I've been so busy getting ready for the Polar Plunge we are now experiencing that I haven't made time to welcome my newest boarder! Last Sat I welcomed Tia, a lovely OTTB mare and her owners Mary and Morgan Binsfield. Tia spent her first day and night in the run next to next to Cali and when I put them together the next morning, they were instant BFFs. It is always so nice when introductions go well. They have both settled into a nice routine of separating for grain feeding and then back together to enjoy their hay and the rest of the day.
