Well we may still have snow and a flurry or two, but DISC GOLF GOALS ARE UNCOVERED. Thank you disc golfers for once again taking a break during our XC-ski season! DISC GOLF IS OFFICIALLY OPENED!

A big thank you to XC-skier, ZACH FIX, for taking down the disc golf goal covers, and for drying, folding and storing the covers! ZACH is a part of the NEXT GENERATION XC-SKI Trail Support Crew that we are currently building for City Park XC-ski and Snowshoe Trail.

As the year ends, a special HUGE thank you to Jerry Pugh for all of the grooming work he donated this past year. We had a really nice and successful season, and Jerry was, and is, a big part of our success.

DISC GOLFERS--ENJOY!!! HAPPY SPRING!

Freshened up skate deck and set down new fresh classic stride tracks. Good to see that Johns work yesterday was skied on yesterday. Hopefully some people will ski today before the next blast tomorrow. For all practical purposes this will probably be the last groom of the season. See you all next season!

Friday March 13, 2026:

Well we thought winter was over, but it looks like March has gone from lamb to LION! ROAR!

City Park Trail was groomed this afternoon, which included snowmobile packing, rolling and grooming with our "Big Red" Tidd Tech groomer. I did not set track yet, as its just way too windy. Also, I didn't groom the Kingsford loop, as that would be way too big a gamble this late in the season--if you get stuck there, you're stuck!

For any hearty souls, who are still in the mood to ski, skate skiing tonight will be soft, but real nice on the fresh corduroy. But the wind is really whipping, so don't delay if you've got an inkling to get out.

Good News! The wind is due to stop early tomorrow morning, so we will definitely set stride track first thing.

I suggest everybody who is interested in one last ski outing, go tomorrow!!! The 20+ inches that are possibly coming on Sunday are just way to much to groom this late in the year!!

Thank you to all who donated this year! It was a great season! Have a super weekend! :)

Saturday March 7, 2026:

Well it’s looking like March is coming in like a lamb. Maybe even an entire flock of lambs. These warm temps feel great, no denying that!

But our ski trail base really isn’t deep enough to survive mid-fifties. There is some snow forecast for this coming week, so we’re going to hold off, for now, calling it a season….let’s wait a few more days and see what develops.

Meanwhile, it’s just not possible to groom successfully right now. So no Youth Ski League tomorrow.

We’re recommending putting on your shades and sunscreen for a nice long walk. Enjoy!

Sunday March 1, 2026:

Hey! We made it to March and still have XC-skiing--definitely a good year.

Re-groomed everything this morning. Had to cut and paste all loops 3 to 4 times. BUT, the result is really good to great skiing once again. New stride track and skate lane. Without more snow, this may very likely be one the last, or certainly near to the last, days of great skiing.

Youth Ski League today at 1:00! Hope to see you out there! :)

Lots of sun and pleasant temperature. Enjoy your day whatever you do! :)

Made an Attempt at grooming this morning. Spent the better part cleaning up debri from the high winds yesterday. Tried making snow cones out of the ice rink! Footprints and postholes everywhere! I thought about giving up after the first half hour! Got a decent groom on fitness loop and soccer field. I wasn't able to set a decent track with the snowcone ice so I only did the fitness loop stride track. Soccer field, deer pen, and fitness loops should be decent. Because of a time commitment with my family I was unable to even look at Kingsford loop and one by golf course. I expect they will be very icy so would use extreme caution if venturing that way. I will try and make another attempt when I return. Possibly Monday.

All City Park ski trails were groomed this morning. I waited for the winds to finally die down. Been a tough week for winds! Lots of drifting but managed to smooth them all out. All new Classic stride track set and fresh corduroy on skate lanes. Should be great skiing today and tomorrow. Get out and ski before mother nature decides to take it all away.....

Sunday February 22: We had 3 new students & parents show up for Youth Ski League, yesterday, in spite of the windy conditions. It was a full house/cabin for hot chocolate after skiing. (Thanks club volunteers—Amy Giesen, Sarah Venditti, Glady Van Harpen).

See you next Sunday from 1 to 3. If you’re & your friends are out skiing or snowshoeing at the trail, feel welcome to stop in the cabin for a cup of tea or hot chocolate!

Wow, do we have some wind??

First, so sorry and BUMMED to see Kiwanis Ski Jumping Tournament cancelled! All of the planning, amazing amount of work, financing, etc! As you well know, they will be back next year. We encourage all to buy buttons and always support Kiwanis Ski Club!

All grooming by Jerry yesterday was completely blown away overnight. So I re-did all grooming an hour ago. But, as much as I hate to say it, it was getting blown away about as fast as I could groom. The wooded loops are quite good, though.

Youth ski league started with a bang today at 1:00 pm. We gave ski equipment to three more kids, and one Dad. Keep our Youlth Ski league in mind if you want to try XC-skiing. We’re at 21 kids and counting! 😄

Tried my best to do something with this wet slop. Spent the morning picking up branches and debri. Went old school with the Skandic snowmobile (lighter and wider track) and roller to help pack down base. Left a decent corduroy but is still very soft. We need a freeze to firm things up. No stride track at this time. If it cools down tonight or tomorrow I will set a new stride track.
