We worked until way past the time we should have been leaving yesterday to finish up the race car, but we got loaded up and rolled into Xtreme Speedway just in time for hot laps. 21 cars were signed in for the modified sportsman class with some heavy hitters.
Our first laps ever on what is basically a new car were in hot laps. We would go second quick overall.
Xtreme Speedway lines their heat races up by pill draw (which I like even if it does seem to bite us sometimes) and our draw of 100 put Dillan starting last in the third heat. He was able to gain a few spots early on, but got a little impatient on a lap 2 restart going 3 wide and come out on the bad end with a right front flat.
Back in the pits, we got the tire changed, but also noticed that the front end was toed way in. We had decided to just load up and save equipment rather than start in the back with a damaged car and risk getting torn up worse on our first night out. Landen went to work and adjusted the toe enough that it at least looked half way straight so at the last minute Dillan decided to jump in and go out and make a couple laps just to feel the car out and get start money.
He laid way back on the start just to be safe. After an early caution he decided the car felt good enough to go ahead and try to race. He would drive from his 20th starting position to cross the line 6th at the checkered flag! We really needed a late caution and we might have had a shot at the leaders.

All in all it was a good first night out. We are extremely happy with our new Fike Fab chassis by Farrel Fike equipped with W.A.R. Shocks.
